New Building Added - Innovation Studio

By popular demand we are adding a constant source of figurines of enlightment for those who are unable to level up their heros because of the missing items.

The new building is unlocked in Renaissance Age under Enlightment tech and allows to craft items by the price of reduced resource income (resource corruption). Different items have different penalties and times to craft. Each new level of building reduces crafting time and unlocks one new item.

Here is the list of items you will be able to craft:

  1. Microscope
  2. Vernygora's Hand
  3. Sextant
  4. Truce Proclamation
  5. Treatise
  6. Figurine of Teaching
  7. Arithmometer
  8. Blueprint
  9. Encyclopedia
  10. Figurine of Enlightment

Each town can have this building so you can craft multiple items at the same time in different towns.

It is active while item is being produced.

Hello,

I built the building up to level 10 but before using it, i'd like to know how is calculated the percentage of ressources needed to craft: on basic production? basic production + power ups? total income? 

Maybe it's explained somewhere but I don't know where and i'm not sure enough about my English to be sure to understand it completely,

I saw the question being asked in cc about how we like this new building, so i thought i would post here.  Thor/Odin made a good suggestion to have this building unlocked sooner than Ren as people usually run out of these items way before they hit Ren.  Sadly, the response was quickly dismissed, saying that one can 'catch up' once they unlock the building.  

So let's take a look at the timing for a bit.  I would say that i'm slightly faster than the average player when it comes to research.  Even so, it took me approx. 2 months with my first hero of this beta to hit Ren age (this is without wasting a lot of time and resources on building a huge army or fighting and losing resources to retraining, etc).  Normally, without buying figs to level up, i can get to about level 23-25 before i run out and XP starts to build and i'm just waiting to find figs in dens, etc.  I can normally reach this level near the end of Classical age, or the beginning of Medieval.  So that means i'll have to wait almost 2 whole ages of research before i can start to 'catch up'.  

But now things have changed quite a bit.  Monster drops have been reduced to nearly nothing, so highly unlikely we'll be picking up figs there anymore.  Even before the drops were reduced, it was a good week if i got 2-3 figs that week.  I've also noticed that the spawning of chests has been changed as well.  Each 10 levels, you unlock a higher level chest.  However, i have been finding that even at level 40 with my first hero i am getting far too many wooden chests and barely any of the age appropriate chests.  

So let's say i can scrape by and make it to level 30 through some miracle by the time i reach Ren and have unlocked the building.  As mentioned, this will take me about 2-2.5 months to get there.  So this means i'll still be short (3x10) + (4X10) = 70 figs to reach level 50.  If by this time, i have 6 towns, i will have to craft about 12 figs in each town.  With each fig taking 7 days to craft, this means i will have enough figs to reach level 50 in about 3 months.........Oh WAIT.  We have only 5 months to play the game before we are wiped!  

So, long story made shorter, no, i doubt this building willl help much, and it is a very steep price to pay 15% resource losses in addition to keeping on your research as well, and with each item taking so long to craft, it would be a constant burden to resource and science.  If it were introduced in an earlier age, resource production can also not support a 15% loss while being able to also maintain a decent research level.  I know my request and post will probably be ignored, but i would ask that a) building is unlocked sooner b) resource loss isn't so dramatic and c) that the time to craft is reduced a bit also.  

(Oh, and it seems a bit like a slap in the fact to ask that we need a blueprint to get to level 10!! I know this is how all the buildings work, but come on, the building was introduced because we don't ahve enough of them in the first place!)

I don't see the building as a source to make all figurines needed, but as a source to make a few, so that whenever you're short one to level up, instead of waiting for one to pop out in a den/chest, it can be taken from there. And I see it aiming more at mid-pace type of players in terms of figures, so not players who make XP very fast and then end up being way short on figurines. I think those players (including myself) should continue having to pay if they want to level up hero at that pace, since there is already too much of a discrepancy between players who know how to make XP fast and level hero up accordingly and players who don't.

So overall, I find the building a useful addition, although I am a bit surprised about some of the "what can be made there" choices. Science speedups make sense, but dove or the moving building thingy not so much (imo). I would have liked to be able to make a potion of reconsideration or of total recall there.

This building is not meant to cover up all your figurine demands, it is meant to fix the stalemate while most of the story locations are not done and you can't get enough figurines through playing. If you progress hero levels too fast before renaissance, unlucky, and don't want to slow down you should either find another source of figurines or use the shop.

Wrong. The chances of chest levels were not changed. Moreover, the rewards from the chests were in fact increased.

Bababandos figured out the purpose and functionality of the building correctly, bravo!

Except buying figurines in the shop is not forced, but rather the side effect of a lot of content not being implemented yet. Ideally if all levels would be implemented, that building would not be needed at all.

Which means the situation with figurines is not that dramatic as some players would like to put it, yet we did a step forward introducing this new building. I think some players should be a little bit more positive as I am getting an impression no matter what we do, they are always unhappy with the changes. Will have to enforce rule #1 on them for systematic whining.

So I see in the log that this new constant source of items is now locked in info age? So you only have it for two ages? how is that considered constant? Just curious, I have not even built it yet.

2 ages is plently of time to get the necessary amount of figurines, plus you are not forced to learn that tech which locks it, you can delay learning it until you craft enough figurines.
