Secret Library is close to completion

Secret Library is close to completion

Unfortunately, it's been over 3 years since we have released new quest locations (Ruins) and 4 years since we have released location that moves the story forward (Preddo Mountain). However, we have been creating new content on and off all this time and now we are close to showing what we got.

There were numerous issues that prevented us from doing it faster, both personal and global (russian invasion in Ukraine - we, the developers, are from Ukraine and still in Ukraine during since then), but despite all these hardships and despite understanding that this kind of update won't bring donations up significantly, I was always willing to make the Secret Library as a fan service, a token of gratitude to all those players who supported us through all this time.

The Secret Library will conclude part of the game's story regarding Jack of Swords and will complete Act I of Totem Tribe II: Jotun. While it will not resolve all loose ends, it will clear some of the story bits and hopefully will provide some kind of conclusion for the time being, until we will have the resources to start Act II.

Like with other main story locations, the goal was to make it unique and I think we have managed to do it - there are two parts, first one is where you progress througth the Secret Library, trying to move closer to the Bronze Sphere and the second one is where you oppose the Jack of Swords, who is the final boss of the whole Act I.

The location is affected by your previous progress in the story and in the other places like anomalies and ruins. The Secret Library is a place of the Precursors, thus items of the Precursors and information about them is important here and helps to unlock things not accessible otherwise.

Let us know in the comments to this post if you are still waiting for this to come out or you have lost hope already. If you are excited about it - let us know. It is helpful to understand which portion of the players are into the story and quests and which portion is here mainly for managing your country and multiplayer aspect.

You can also ask questions about the upcoming location in the comments.

I can't wait to explore the secret library! I'm a fan of exploring and learning about the storyline, love the anomalies and the ruins and was waiting for this for a long while ... so I'm happy that this might happen soon.

Soon please!!

Will the entrance to Secret Library still be in Preddo Mtn?

Don't know if I want to find Bronze Sphere after finishing ruins and anomalies, but would love a conclusion to the story, so you can begin Chapter 2! :)))

Fantastic!  Looking forward to this continuation of Secret Library storyline and more exploration. As a fan of completing all locations, ruins etc, it will definitely feel like more of an achievement and reward for the fabulously fun & frustrating effort put into the locations!!  Yay!

Personally, on one hand I still find that better than nothing, but all on the other hand: I won't do again the ruins (and I never did anomalies and I won't do them) no matter if I miss some content because of it, I already don't like the fact that everytime (even if that becomes more and more rare) a new location comes out you must replay all the other locations to access it, in the end if there is like 25 locations in the game, unless someone wait for the last one to be released first, he will have finished karfaree 25 times, thornsville 24 times, gypsy tabor 23 times etc, I don't like that.

Also, I had nothing left to do in this game despite I still wanted to play it because I don't like any other games anymore, so this is something to do, but, it's something I won't like much (I can't know for sure but since I didn't like other locations that's likely), and it's something that will last just a few days, as even if there is some replayability somehow I don't find it worth redoing all previous locations with a new hero just for that. Other contents give more days of play like a new age, a new set of locations (ruins/mines etc), new perks to theorycraft about, new politic, those things that were either canceled or postponed about additional traits to artifacts, the recent idea about "auto attackers" to motivate pvp, new victories and maybe more I'm missing.

Again this is just what I personally think about it, if other players like it it's good and especially if that brings some donation even if it's not profitable. I'm not trying to demotivate you to do that especially since it's almost done after many months working on it, this is just my point of view, which is expectable as this game has so many different kind of contents that most people don't like all of them, it's funny when you berserker come to the chat and some people suggest you to do something while some other suggest you to do the exact opposite, mainly more or less pvp.

But anyway, not only am I not complaining, but I shouldn't even because, from what I understood, once this location is finished you don't plan yet to start act 2 and will try to make space age after which is something I like (well... still, have to go through the 6 other ages first to reach it, but at least that will be worth it). I hope you have a plan for the artworks in case, unfortunately but possibly, your artist doesn't come back or will not be physically or mentally good to draw again.

Hey Ber's,
I look forward to the end of Act I. Been waiting for 10 years, amazing. I recently came back to playing every day and only do the bare minimum of locations. Monster locations and Karfree if I am doing the Culture Victory, Wealth is only monster locations. Once you release the secret library I will do the anomalies, the new Ruins are too hard for me to figure out and I will not waste my time on them. Still here waiting for a conclusion to Jotun.

There were some personal issues which made it impossible to do until Christmas, but also the more I dug into it, the more smaller details I have put into, thus making the whole process longer. As always there will be numerous small details you would miss on the first playthrough, like secrets, optional items or even bits of lore, but for die hard fans who are completing this game over and over and paying attention to every little detail, there will be a lot to discover. For example, do you personally still find new minor bits in the game from time to time? (i.e. new conversation options)

Speaking about time, no, it won't take until Christmas. The Secret Library is done on paper, just not playable from start to finish due to not everything is scripted properly, but all the necessary content is there. We just need to stitch everthing together, internally test all known options and it will be ready for release and feedback.

Thank you Bers:)) I am over the moon that it is closer to being finished than Christmas :DD and I hope your personal issues are now resolved.

To answer your question, yes I do sometimes choose different conversation options because it does make the game more variably interesting such as ending up with a heart shaped cake instead of a round one or seeing an extra room in Thornsville or discovering who was in Room 4 in Domina's once it reopened :D etc etc and that is why I play with both male and female heroes. The people that just select the same conversations and do exactly the same things over and over again are missing out on a LOT. "Variety is the spice of life" and you have done an exceptional job of making this such a uniquely varied game.

I just wish I was more clever at discovering all the secrets you have hidden but I am pretty hopeless at that and usually end up relying on the kindness of friends but I will still make the attempt to find them.

I do have one little thing that annoys me each time I play and that is that each location has something to find such as a fig or headdress etc behind a tree but in the banquet room itself there is just a quick conversation with the jester, it just seems such a waste of all the details put into that huge room for there to be nothing to pick up there.so if it is possible please can you think about hiding one or two things there please.

You do know the artist isn't only a character in the game, don't you?

Awesome news Bers!  Personally I think the story line is by far the most unique part of this game and am delighted you decided to move it forward.  For one, I will be making a donation upon release to express my gratitude for your hard efforts.  Thankyou Enkord team!!  Top of my list otherwise for sure is a new victory, so I imagine science/Space Age perhaps is next closest to completion from previous discussions.  Wait in anticipiation :D

I refused to give up hope, Bers. I knew at some point, you would continue and move it forward. So I'm very happy and can't wait to explore the Secret Library. I think it would be great to see how everything comes together and, as you describe it yourself, to make things accessible that would otherwise be inaccessible. Thank you and your team for all your hard work!
