Since we have recently added artifacts, we are now able to expand on this and add a whole new side to the game - Treasure Hunting! Similar to fishing, you will be able to excavate for treasures here and there. Let's do a breakdown of new things added in today's update. The Archeologist This is where it all begins. If you go to Keepers' Village you will find a new character there - The Archeologist. There is a small quest that you need to complete for him and then he will teach you how to dig for treasure at various spots in the world. The Treasure Spots There are now numerous treasure spots of different sizes and potential rewards. A lot of them have Artifacts in them, so they are worth digging into! Unfortunately, to find the majority of the spots it will require creating a new player - or at least new town. Towns existing prior to this update have a limited number of treasure spots available. Excavation Tools You cannot do excavation without tools. You will need to find some tools - the Archeologist will help you to get started on this as well. Treasure Hunter Perk The perk is working now and improves your treasure hunting process. More complex treasure places will require you to have this perk. The Rewards Treasure spots are perfect places to find artifacts, so let us know in the comments below what kind of artifacts you have found - if any. You might need to raid some ruins though.

**** This may be a spoiler ****
As a comparison I began a new hero, and also began a new town at Simba II, my baby at Level 18.
This is what I found: Simba II dwelling: 1 pyramid, 3 stone houses, 4 small dirt hills. Total 8 Simba II new town: 4 small dirt hills, 2 small stone piles, 2 large stone piles, 2 stone houses. Total 10 New Hero: 4 small dirt hills, 1 large dirt hill, 1 pyramid, 2 small stone piles. Total 8 Broken Sound, a seaside town at Delray has 4 small dirt hills and 2 boats. Total 6

OK, I have a question. Will the excavated locations eventually disappear (I hope :) ? If so, will they be replaced with news ones or is this a one-time thing? They are fun, thanks to the Devs for something new!

No, they are one-time thing only and they will not disappear. Excavated locations are not just pile of dirt. There are also places like temples and castles - how those are going to disappear after excavation?

Good point! Perhaps in the future though they can have some indication that they have already been done?

You can click them and it will say that this spot has already been searched and can't be searched again.

I have a problem completing the quest, because the mound of earth by the Archeologist is missing. Also, I only have 1 mound of earth by the boxes.

If my hero is fighting monsters and runs across an excavation site, she is likely to stop and excavate. When I return to check on excavation progress I tend to forget that army is no longer following flag, because at the end of excavation the flag is yellow, even though the army has completely deserted the excavator. I check my units to see that I have enough to continue fighting monsters and move the flag to the next location. I forget to check to see if army follows. In all other situations an army automatically follows a yellow flag. No need to check this. So ... as I continue on with my activities my hero fights monsters alone. Result? Dead hero. My suggestion is that once a hero completes an excavate the flag returns to us green ... to remind us that army is no longer following.

I have dug the first spot the archaeologist wanted, found two more amongst the boxes, and can't find the others. Can anyone help in pointing me in the right direction to find the last ones?

I have upgraded my Treasure Hunter perks to level ... 4? I think... lol nope... level 6. hoping that will help me be able to excavate some of the larger things. But where can I find the upgraded tools? Is that something that's accessible in this Alpha, or should I just ignore that part of the game for now? I really wanna dig! =) any help would be great... thanks!

Wow--I had no idea that I could move anything in the game--like the boxes near the archaeologist! I thought the game was all just find-the-object and strategy. I wouldn't have figured out about the boxes without reading that part of this forum. Maybe a more obvious clue in the dialogue? "Oh, I expect my tools are in those boxes somewhere. I certainly can't be bothered to look, but you go ahead, apprentice."

I have complete the archaeolgist quest and I have the digging tools. However, wherever I go to dig,I get a message saying I need the treasure hunters perk. Is this a bug? I thought you got the perk when you did the archaeologist quest. Is there something else I have to do?
