Global Resource Lending

Global Resource Lending

This update introduces Resource Lending to the game. From now on, players will be able to lend resources on the world map within their domain to their neighbors. This should allow new ways for players to interact, as well as additional diplomacy around those resources.

What exactly is resource lending?

If you have a global resource within your domain on the world map, you will now be able to lend it to any of your neighbors. A neighbor is any player whose domain shares a border to yours. There should be no space or other players between the two of you.

Once you lend the recource to someone, it will act as if the cell with the resource is provided to that other player, and that player can do with it as if it were his or her own resource (i.e. build a structure on it and supply to their towns). Lending is instantaneous, although building the structure on it is not, just as if it were a normally owned resource.

You can also reclaim any lended resource instantly, although if the other player has supplied it to any of their towns, it will take 24 hours for the supplying structure to be deconstructed. It will be exactly as if you captured the cell with the resource from someone.

It is up to the players how to use this lending mechanics. You can provide them in one direction to your friend or ally. You can exchange them with some other resource with your neighbor by lending each other either 1 for 1, 1 for 2 or any other combination. If you are strong, you can now demand global resources from your neighbors as a tribute. It is up to you how you going to use it - we only provide the mechanics.

It will be interesting if this will make an impact on diplomacy.

P. S. Some overhaul is in the process of Alpha 4 preparations, i.e. stone age tech prices increased 1.5 times while classical age tech prices decreased by 2 times.

P. P. S. Let us know in the comments if you plan to use resource lending and how.

You mention that classical age is decreased by 2 times. But that is not the case with Magic it now costs 65 000 000 science points and it takes me 31 days to research it . This is not a decrease but a huge increase.

That's a typo. Should be 6 500  000. Will fix in the next update.

Whoa!  This will definitely change things up a bit.  Yes, I plan to use this to give my allies horses and extra food to people I reinforce.  There are many who don't have horses.  They could use the resource long enough to build up their cavalry.  It might take some juggling back and forth as attacks happen in order to re-train but at least others can build up more defenses/offenses.

I am trying to lend my horses to one of my neighbours but I cant raze them even though I have met the requirements needed.

Astor's border changed and he now has "my" horses.  He is razing the pasture and is lending them to Cleo.  When I click on the horses they show they are mine and deconstruction of the pasture is 19 hours away.  How can he lend horses that have yet to come into his full possession?  I tried to lend a resource to a neighbor and the message was I needed to raze first.  Astor is still razing so how can he lend them?

I was there and checked out the pasture. From an outsider's view the pasture shows to be Astor's. I am not saying they belong to either Cat or Astor. I am just pointing out that it seems the information I gained from the world map and the information Cat is receiving does not match.

The horses have returned to their proper place in the world through "diplomacy".  The combined forces of my alliance and I were able to free them.

They returned to their proper place earlier in the day.

Yes,  ability to lend newly captured resource when there is a structure on it does not look like a correct behavior, will fix it.

Another player lent me a few resources.  For all but one there was no problem with activating it for one of my towns.  For one however, while the resource showed with the broken green line, there was no button underneath.

That's because there is a structure on it. You have to wait until other player's structure will be deconstructed. That should be explained though.

It has been more than two days now and the structure should be deconstructed by now if it was ordered by the lending player.  The status as of 3:06 EST today is the same as the screenshot from yesterday.   So it was lent without the player deconstructing it.  I checked using my own resources and received a message that required me to deconstruct prior to lending.

Well I have tried it with 2 different neighbors, one for horses and one for cows.   I think it's a great addition and really look forward to it in Alpha 4.  Nice going team  :-)

If was fixed in the update, so now you cannot lend it with structure. Speaking about the resource you got with structure. Is the structure still there? It is auto-destroyed within 24 hours usually.
