Today's upgrade is a radical attempt to fix the food issues once and for
all - which has been plaguing us since this alpha launch. A lot of things have
changed so read the details thoroughly. Oh, and we have a sneak peak
about 20 new hairstyles coming soon as well. Since the beginning of Alpha 5 there has been a food issue that has mixed origin. Players have been pointing this out and we have tried to fix it more than once
by altering population in different buildings. Unfortunately, those
fixes had limited effects and a proper solution required drastic changes.
Back then we had no time to do it, so I decided to postprone it until
Alpha 6. But instead I decided to do it before the end of the current alpha
stage, to see it in action.
Balance Changes
- Food production buldings starting from Classical Age provide more income (including food as the most valuable resource). Renaissance Age production buildings now provide twice as many resources. As you can see, this is an extreme change and required tweaking other things:
- Population of many buildings was increased. This starts with Classical Age and higher
- Food consumption of units was increased (mainly later ages)
- Some building prices increased here and there. Report if some of them do not fit the maximum storage of the corresponding age.
- Increased resource income means higher science spending, so we had to increase tech prices from Classical Age and onward. However, even with increases the science should be easier to learn now since the resource income increase is still much bigger. The science increase also triggered a couple of other changes:
- Museum efficiency increased 10 times.
- Science speed-up items now provide 10 times more points.
- Increasing the population in buildings to offset the increased food production resulted in a critical penalty to construction speed. To deal with it we did the following:
- Increased the effect of 1 level of the hut from 1% to 2% reduction. This is a huge boost - especially in early ages, so it will result in a more comfortable start.
- The increased bonus made the huts too good so we reduced the culture bonus from them as a compensation. This is not very noticeable at early ages, but Renaissance players may see the shrink of domain if they had many huts.
- To compensate for culutre loss just a little bit, we have increased culture in some of the "culture booster" buildings like the Well, Fountain, etc.
- Some other changes related - and not so related - with this rebalance, such as traders capacity, increased to match up to the increased resources usage.
- Rig Trader capacity increased from 500 to 800
- Coach Trader capacity increased from 600 to 1000
- Trade Ship capacity increased from 1000 to 1500
- Dirigible capacity increased from 500 to 1000
- Main buildings protection from capture decreased (Still too big, but not impossible. This will be reduced even more later).
- Basic advisor quests now should not only be able to accept buildings from Classical and Medieval Ages, but also the ones in other towns. This needs to be tested thoroughly.
- From now on, Stained Mask Trophy does not require you to kill enemy spies. (The players who tested this out but were too lazy to submit the report or even PM me should be ashamed)
New Hairstyle
There
will be a vanity update which will allow you to visually customize your
character. While we are working on it, we need your help with the
hairstyles: New Female Hairstyles 
New Male Hairstyles 
Unfortunately,
the artist had no idea what she had been drawing so we need you to give
names to those hairstyles :) Oh, and also rank them to your personal
preference. Please post in the comments below how you like them
- the numbers of the hairstyles ordered from best to worst will do. Also
give them names - if a particular one resembles a real haircut with a real
name, that would be preferred. But if not - making up something works
too!
Beauty or the Beast?
There is an upcoming
hairstyle update and today's massive game balance update. It's up to you
to decide, which one is the beauty, and which one is the beast ;-)

I have yet to see any of the changes in action, but I can rank the hairstyles... Female in order from favorite to least favorite: 8 - The Sistah, it's nice to see a natural hair style for African woman 9 - The Anime, it should come in bright pink, teal blue and lavender. 4 - The Rosie (the Riveter), bad *ss girls doing it for themselves. 6 - The Jade, it just makes me think of Japanese elegance... 7 - The Farrah, back when bigger was better and feathers ruled the world. 3 - The Mary Ann, girl next door glam. 1 - The New Wave, although straight, it hearkens back to the 80's style. 5 - The Winged Mullet? Need I say more? 10 - The Princess Bride... precious... 2 - The Texan Beauty Pageant... Male: 3 - The Dreadlocks, I just have a thing for them. 8 - The Rock-a-billie, rebel w/o a cause. 4 - The Anime, AKIRA!!! 5 - The Hipster, I woke up like dis. 2 - The Mohawk, but braided.... very warrior-esque. 10 - The Punk Rock, good for mosh pits. 1 - The Brodie, just got done surfing and decided to start a warring nation. 9 - The Bad Guy, idk, just find it creepy... 6 - The Corn Row, now, on an African man, not a problem... on a white boy, kind of Kid Rock :/ 7 - The Fabio, how dare he have thicker prettier hair then me?!? |

Female styles best to worst 7,3,1,6,8,9,4,5,2,10 Male styles best to worst 3,6,4,5,1,2,8,7.10.9 I have had both male and female heroes but have to say I would never pick any of these styles for a male hero by choice. The ones already there are much better in my opinion:) I do like some of the female ones though. |

Number 6 of the male hairstyles is called "jeb-jeb" in some parts of Africa, I like it as well as No. 2,3, and 9. Best women's hairstyles: 2, 6 and 3, the others look kind of overstyled. |

Like Female - 2, 7 & 8 Like Men - 6, 7 & 3 the other hairstyle - whatever floats your boat, is cool Names - Female - 1- Veronica Lake (there I dated myself with that one, the hair over one eye) 2 -Wedding bride 3 -the 60's 4 -Mary Ann (girl next door) 5 -the 30's 6 -The flapper aka roaring 20's 7 -Farrah Fawcett the 70's 8 -Frizzy hair day or the bad perm I had in the 3rd grade (ugh it was awful, thanks Mom) 9 - Totally rad, especially multi colored (I would love that) 10- really really bad hair day Male - I really have no thoughts on names for those, except 7 - Fabio 8 - The Trump |

I think all the female ones are fun and they cover a wider variety of tastes. The males, well most look like beasts to me lol. A couple of names (my imagination is on vacation right now :( Female 6 agree on Flapper 10 Princess Leia 7 Queen Bey 4 Abby (NCIS) or Cinderella 8 Natural Male 3 Rasta or Dreads 2 agree on Mohawk |

Hmmm ... Do I detect a Stevie Nicks fan? For those of you who have not heard Stevie's "Beauty and the beast" .. you should definitely take a listen.. Women - 1,3,8 Men Zero. So Sorry - but I would kick my beau back to the barber if he came to my home looking like these guys. I realize that having been alive more than half a century (or not long enough to remember the 17th century) doesn't help me to prefer much besides "Bers' buzz", but still, these are not attractive. Women's 'do' #7 is great but it looks similar to one that currently exists. It is obvious to me that these should just simply be named after of the Eras they were inspired by ... flappers (20's), 40's, Victorian, 70's, 80's, millennium, etc. - or an event most memorable during those eras. Most of them are great - well done. I may have my preference, but these styles do allow for a great variety.
