Totem Tribe 2 will be complex game. Way more complex than original game and in order to convey every important bit of information we have to find an interesting and fun way to do that.
Initial vital information will be provided via tutorial quests, but what about all the deeper stuff? This is where advisors come in.
There will be two advisors in the game - Bulat the War Advisor, and Zweistein the Peace advisor:
You can guess who is who.
Those advisors will be giving you optional quests on what you should do to improve your current state of the country. When you feel the need of advice - you ask them and they will tell you about your current weaknesses and what you should do to fix them.
Bulat will be giving advice about military side of things - how to defend, which units to build, when to attack, etc.
Zweistein on the other hand will give hints on what to build and research to improve your economy, culture, tech, etc.

Clearly Bulat is the one with the spear and the gold medal, while Zweistein is a scientist with similar features to Einstein.
This sounds very useful. How detailed will their tips be? Will they tell you exactly what to do, or will they just say "do more of 'this' type of thing." After which you have to check back constantly to see if you got it right?

At last I have figured out what the "surprise" in the game is. Bulat is going to be the first man to give birth - he looks heavily pregnant to me :D

An81angel,
It could be a little bit of this and that, the main requirement - their hints must be helpful enough.

There is no release day, only year :)
Seriously, we will release a separate website for the game within a month I think, and after that next step will be closed alpha.

Fan-made projected timeline ... Next month game website launch. July will be the start of alpha testing (for creative staff only) after closed alpha will be closed beta around september, which a few lucky people might get picked to participate in. Closed beta will take a few months to work out the kinks, after which there will be the live release for all players I'd say around Thanksgiving.
I used my experience as a beta tester for Tera Online, and Pirate101 as a basic timetable. And FYI, beta testing is very hard. There are lots of bugs and glitches and missing content that you have to help the developers sort through. While it is fun and exciting to see the game before everyone else, it is not easy play, it is very hard work. So if you get a spot on beta don't expect an easy breezy beautiful gaming experience. Ohhh, and game day launches never go well - no matter how prepared you are, or how prepared the developers are - there are going to be unforeseen issues that will be triggered at launch.

Well I have to say that when I beta tested TT Gold I didnt come across too many glitches and enjoyed playing the test version. Hopefully Berserker and the rest of the team will be as succesful with the beta version for TT2 as they were for TTG, which given their track record and the length of time gone into developing the game, shouldnt be a problem for them. I've done beta testing for some of the big gaming sites and most beta versions don't come anywhere near as ready for full release as TTG did.

I am very patient and can supply constructive feedback, with a little humor tossed in. Woo Hoo for the autumn of 2013!

@ anneer - TTG was mostly an updated version of the original TT, so most of those kinks were already dealt with the first time through. The only bits that needed attention were the new additions. so for me that wouldn't necessarily mean much more than a p101 test realm content update.
@ jerseandy - I am not all that patient. And i get frustrated easily. Though I am good with supplying feedback. What I am not good with is when big/medium issues get sidelined, with no hint that the developers have any intention of dealing with it. That was my biggest issue with Pirate101 beta test anyway - because they seemed to ignore what the testers where saying. I know if I beta test again I do not want another experience like that.

I am just waiting! It will come out when it does and I'll keep checking at least once a day to get the news and read the comments. I want to play but I'm also not very patient AND not very good with the feedback. Although I would like to be beta tester just to get to play.

Actually we will be letting selected testers in even at alpha-test stage. Beta-test in my mind is more like an open test where we will let anyone willing, while at alpha-test we will be letting limited groups of people from time to time.

As for the test version - it will be way more rough and incomplete that TTG was. This time we will put live a version that has only small part of content, and most of the content will be added later on with updates. However we are pushing hard to have even test version good enough to actually have fun while playtesting. Hence all these delays.

A month? Ooh goody goody *rubs hands together*
I'm happy to use even a rough version of the game, mostly because I'm really bored at the moment. Plus the waiting and teasers are too much to bear! ;)

Next question is... how long does alpha testing take before you move onto the next step? :)
