Today we added item manipulation features to compliment the new Artifacts and Treasure Hunting features. The new item system is now fully implemented - as it has been planned from the very beginning. Now you will be able to to craft new items, enhance artifacts, repair your gear, and disassemble spare ones to get materials. Let's do the breakdown of new things in today's update: Item Idols There are 4 new idols added in today's update. Each one of them allows you to do one of the four features - crafting, enhancing, repairing, or disassembling. We will let you find them on your own. However, I will mention that each of them is on one of four quest locations: Herald's Home, Opposition Hideout, Keepers' Village, and Ruins of New Kyiv. Item Perks A number of perks are now working as of this current update. Namely - Craft Item, Disassembly, Disintegration, Antiquarian, Enhance Item, and Conjurer. These perks greatly increase your chances for success when dealing with specific item manipulations with idols. One of the idols will not even allow you to do anything without perks. Ores and Crystals Ore & crystal materials were available since the beginning, but they now actually make sense. They are the core of the item mechanic and are required for everything - crafting, repairing, enhancing. Better materials yield better results when you use them. Their prices in the Cash Shop have been revised as well. Achievements New item-related achievements were added in this update: - Blacksmithing (Create X items)
- Skillful Hands (Repair X points of attrition)
- Imbue with Magic (Enhance items X times)
- Infusion (Upgrade item from Normal to Enhanced)
- Refinement (Upgrade item from Enhanced to Enchanted)
- Selection (Upgrade item from Enchanted to Rare)
- Glorification (Upgrade item from Rare to Legendary)
- Canonisation (Upgrade item from Legendary to Godly)
- Recycling (Disassemble an item)
- What Has Been Gold... (Disassemble Enhanced item)
- ...Turns to Dust (Disassemble Enchanted item)
Rare Junk (Disassemble Rare Item) Forgotten Legends (Disassemble Legendary item) - Precious Treasure (Dig X treasures)
- I Love Boxes (Open X chests)
- Just a Scrap (Pick X resource items from the ground)
- I Found Something! (Pick X consumable items from the ground)
- Guardians of Time and Space (Gather X gems)
As a bonus we added a few achievements that are not related to items: - City of Doors (Open X doors)
- Puzzle Cracker (Solve X puzzles)
- Nothing Can Stop Me (Destroy X obstacles)
- Go Fishing (Catch X fishes)
- Thorn Apart (Clean the toughest Thorns)
- Into Pieces (Break the biggest Rock Slates)
- On the Other Side (Cross the widest Rift)
- Firefighter (Extinguish the hottest Flame)
- Global Warming (Melt the coldest Ice)
- Mysterious Wall (Eliminate the largest Jotun Crystals)
Achievements start working from today's update. In other words, if you have opened doors or destroyed obstacles before this update, they will not count toward City of Doors achievement. Conclusions? This is probably the final large content update until Alpha 5, as we will now be more focused on Alpha 5 content - like Renaissance Age. However, we will be fixing bugs and tweaking stuff. Like always, please let us know about your experience with crafting/enhancing/repair/disassembly, in detail, in the comments below. Let us know what have you tried to do with items, what have you got and your overall impressions with all of the above. Thanks.

I tried the idols out and I really like them, I just think there are not enough perks. I changed mine to try the idols then I put them back. I like the disassemble. I also fully repaired my helmet and enchanted my armor. I crafted gloves and pants that were to low of a level to use. But the concept was nice for all of them.

The "not enough perks" is intentional. You will have to compromise and pick the ones which suit you best. Later when all of the perks will be implemented this situation will be even more critical.

- I got a dagger that give damage vs aerial vs the hero, I'm quite sure
it's impossible to have a bow and this dagger equipped at the same time,
so this useless stat on non-bows weapons is still intended ? - I finished the quest to repair 5 items and it showed 500xp despite the +1% xp per quest, maybe it did give 505 though I'll check next time but expect people to ask this again. - it would help if for those quests you could see somewhere how much items have been crafted/repaired/enhanced already.

Also, using crystals to create, can never creates equipments, only higher crystals ? If so I wonder what the highest crystals can create.

I haven't seen the game yet, but it looks AWESOME! I already donated 5$ in the first like 3 minutes of me seeing the website, my brain is basicially broken from reading the information about the game... If you are reading this and haven't donated yet, I'd highly suggest it.

I would like to bump this thread and ask people to post about their experience with crafting after this while, especially since alpha 5 there is a Saman Blacksmith who teaches how to use crafting idols and there is a Pagan Circle in some towns which simplifies usage of idols. Efficiency of the idols were tweaked in some of the updates too so they do not require perks in order to successfully use them (although perks allow so save some ore and crystals). Tell us about your experiences with crafting and idols because we have plans to do some changes and want to incorporate your feedback. Thanks in advance.

In alpha 4 I hardly did anything with the Idols (crafting, enhancement etc.). Somehow it did not seem clear to me if they had advantages, so I just did not take the time.
I am glad with the introduction of the Shaman in Alpha 5, which really made me look much better at this function of the game. And I am really getting the hang of it now and I like it; especially with the Disassembly perk.
Also glad with the group of idols in my second and third town. That makes using them easy accessible, no need anymore to search those idols at quest-locations and spending time to send your hero over there.
I would like to have some more insight in what kind of ores/crystal's will bring me what kind of equipment or enhancement-possibilities. It could make searching for specific ores and crystals a little extra quest in the game.

I've tried to use idols to craft, disassemble, enhance and repair. I don't know if it's just my luck, but the percentages don't seem accurate. Doing anything with the idols fails a lot more than the indicated percentage states. Crafting in general needs an option where you can specify what type of item you want to craft, it doesn't have to be a specific item, but being able to choose to craft a helmet or pants or gloves, etc. would make crafting a lot more beneficial. Being able to disassemble an item is great, but 40% chance for all items (that I've come across)? Seems low to me and doesn't really entice me to disassemble. I believe the percentage should be higher, you could base it on item type or something. It's not like you get some magnificent thing when you succeed in disassembling anyway, you get ore, which you still have to craft into something and to be able to get a higher chance of success (85% is the highest I can get) you have to do 5 ores. In trying to do the enhancements on an item seems to decrease the amount of enhancements on the item even if you succeed. Let's say I found an item with 5 enhancements on it, I try to see if I can get a better one on it, I use as many crystals as possible, then succeed. I'll end up with only 4 enhancements or less left on the item. Getting penalized even if you succeed is quite annoying and makes me not want to enhance.

I love having the circle in town so I can 'play' with the idols more often. I crafted quite a few items, repaired one item and enhanced one item successfully twice. I was a bit disappointed that it also made the required hero level higher, so now I have a more advanced item but I can't use it on my hero for a few levels. The dissassembly idol I didn't manage to get to work yet. Need perks for every item I want to disassemble and I find other perks more useful. I like the idea and the function of the idols, but seems to me that you need a lot of items (ore or crystal) to use them succesfully and after use of the first gained by the shaman I didn't find a lot of new ones.

I really like having the Pagan circle. Last Alpha the travel times just didn't make it worth using the idols. I am using the repair idol a lot, and plan to use the disassemble one as well when things become obsolete with the hero at higher levels/ages. Right now I don't see much advantage in using the create and enhance idols because of the issues stated above - crafting something that can't be used, losing enhancements, requiring perks that for me are better used for other things.

Big plus for pagan circle, saving me long walks with my hero on the snowy hills. I managed to finish the shaman blacksmith quest and now i am putting perk points into crafting to reach disassemble. After i get that i will craft more since i will get plenty more ore. The enhanced items are not worth it right now since they have huge hero lvl requirements from my perspective. Getting items with min hero lvl 30-70 when you are lvl 5-7 is a bit not fun. The regular crafting so far only gave items i already had, but i did finish kiev (with all chests) and keepers and 2 caves, and i have one perk in treasure hunter so i also got lots of equips from digging, so i might be overstocked.

I have crafted a few really nice items. However, I must use higher value ore in order to do it. Early in the game this is rare find. Otherwise I craft only repeats of what I am already wearing. One or two higher value items I crafted I was actually able to wear and were higher level offense/defense than I had available to me from other means. I am not a dedicated crafter btw, so these accomplishments were as a result of a relatively casual attempt at crafting. The idea of crafting repetitive items is okay if I spend my perk points on destruction or enhancement. Being able to enhance a non-artifact item early in the game would be a great advantage. However, there is an investment and dedication that must be made in order to accomplish that - at the cost of losing other possible perks - and early on I am looking into health perks instead. It is a choice that must be made. Using the idols is great fun btw :)

I know it's been a while since you made the request for feedback, but I didn't have a solution to what I see as a problem with crafting. There is no reliable way to find ore's or crystals to use the crafting system to its' potential. My solution to that would be to add another skill/perks, mining. Give us sites similar to excavation spots where we could mine for the chance at a random crystal or ore. This would bring a consistent way to get the materials needed for crafting. Higher perks bringing in better ore/crystals.

Idols and crystals are another thing that I find useless. To enhance the item you need a perk which you can get after really huge amount of playing...don't know, my hero is level 20 and I have cca 10 perks, and conjurer perk is really far away from getting at this point. I also don't feel like crafting an item, because too many times it ends without success, no matter of amount of ore you put, and if it's succesful, I usually get useles tool, or another useless ore...My inventory is anyway already filled with lot's of eqipment (from chest, quests, etc.) which I don't need to use or hero didn't level up enough for them. What my hero needs is science points, figurines, blueprints, etc. And is much too often finding ore, crystals, and again useless consuamble items...So, I have 34 jasper crystals, 43 onyx crystals, 14 savings policies, 12 devil in disguise, etc. All completely useless to me at the point where I try to develop towns, upgrade buildings, mediate hero to reach higher level, etc. I guess it depends on what one wants from game...I tried to send some eqipment to other players, but didn't succeed, I guess I need higher level for that, but with 43 onyx crystals I really don't see it coming :) Otherwise, there is plenty of fun in the game, and one or two interesting stories, but there are just so many annoying things :D UPDATE: I just found 4 onyx crystals, one after another in one of the anomalies...:D
