It's 2013 and we are working hard still, but just to break the silence since the beginning of the new year I decided I will post results from the latest thing we did.
We have finished portrait generator which will allow you to create your hero and decided to post 9 random female and 9 random male portraits out of millions of possible combinations.
Females:
Males:
Being generated from hand-drawn elements we hope your hero's portrait will be both pleasant looking and unique at the same time.
You will be able both customly create the face you like or just pick the face from endless randomly generated face list.
I know I've been posting portraits back in the days, but those were just drafts and current ones is taken from the game itself (plus we have customizeable hair and skin colors now).
If you want to go further and see the face generator screen and learn how it works in the game, I've created and appropriate thread on forums, go check it out.

Wow, simply amazing. I absolutely adore the three females on the far right column. And the guys are funny, but in a great way. I am going to have a blast in character creator. I think i will probably spend the first 1-2 hours of game launch just exploring the character options. I LOVE IT ... I can't wait to create!!!
One question though, all their eyes seem to be the same color, is that by accident or can we not choose the color of our character's eyes?

Well, we thought the eyes color is a bit overdo in terms of detail :)
However, if some of you (players) think that is very important to be able to change eye color - speak up here in coments and maybe we will think about this customization too :)

I am of the opinion that you can take making your own avatar too far. When it takes longer to set up your player then it does for me to get ready to go to work in the morning I usually don't play the game. I would guess some people will want to be able to do their nails also. I say keep it simple.

:( I have my character picked out and know the changes I would like to make and I really want to change the colour of the eyes. Please, please and please can we have the option to change the eye colour. If its a big hassle to do before you release the game, maybe its something that could be introduced shortly after the launch. Really appreciate you keeping us all up to date - keep up the good work lads :)

Eye colour is a pretty distinctive characteristic. If the only distinctive things that can be changed are skin and hair colour it's a little hard to have a distinctive avatar. I know you guys are working really hard, so it's too hard just forget about it - but my vote is for different eye colours!
By the way, the game's looking great! And I love the wallpaper you released for Christmas:)

Wow, those characters look great!
And personally, I don't mind about choosing eye colour or not. I usually just spend a minute or two choosing a character and then move on to the game.

brendatimj,
Like I said in the news post, those portraits posted are randomly generated by the game itself. So if you don't care about customizing your hero, you can just hit "next" button and it will take exactly 1 second of your time. Or you can spend a few seconds and click "Random" a few times until you get the face a little bit more appealing to you. You are not obligated to spend time exploring all of the face generator options, but you can if you want to. As you can see from other people's comments here, some of them do care as much so they even want us to add eye color change :)

Ok, I decided to clarify things up a bit and posted a thread on forums with screenshot and explanation of how face generator works. Take a look here:

Thanks berserker.
I made a comment earlier about wanting to have the eye color change ability, but i never said why. let me do so now.
Eyes are very expressive, and many believe that the eyes are the window to the soul. While the game is just a long string of 1's and 0's, that doesn't mean the game isn't alive. To me each game is alive. It has the life, the heart, the soul of the individual's who created it, and those that will in turn play it. I want the ability to reflect all that in my avatar, I want an avatar that shows other players just how much I love TT, TTG, and eventually TT2.
But all that isn't really saying why the eyes are personally important to me. I have hazel green eyes, more specifically my eyes are: Olive green inner ring with several gold flecks, a hunter green outer ring, & a burnt pumpkin starburst around the pupil. Most people think they are flat brown, until they get close enough to really look into my eyes. I know how beautiful my eyes are, and it is sad when people take one glance and see them as something bland (not that i have anything against brown eyes). my comment here is on how people overlook the beauty and majesty that is the eye. We see the world you created in these games, all the shapes, colors, designs with our eyes. We wouldn't be able to play this game at all if we were blind. yet you leave out one of the crucial options to customize our avatar that really matters. Our avatar has to see the world he/she will be protecting, and fighting for. why shouldn't we have the option to choose the color for those eyes that get to see this amazing new game world with?

Now you got me convinced :)
I don't think we will make a variety of options for eyes since they are quite small on the hero portrait, but I think if we make brown/green/blue color options it will be sufficient. I will post a picture later when ready.

Questions about hair: What is the longest hair you have created for the character creator? The main character from TT and TTG, Aruku, had very long hair, and i was wondering if there is an option for that? I can see that the hair with the braid is longer than the shoulders but you can't tell exactly how long it goes. Are their any other hair styles available that are not shown here? I am not looking for more pictures, just curious about the total number of styles.
I love long hair on my avatars because (IRL) I am 5'2" and my hair hangs to the back of my knees -- about 4 feet of hair. Most games don't do long hair for one reason or another.
Side question: How will you be choosing beta players? I am not sure I am beta material, but I'd like to know what the criteria for the selection process is. Or have you already chosen the beta players and are just waiting for the implementation of beta to tell them?
Thanks!

There are around 10 hairstyles so you pretty much seen all of them on those pictures. It's hard to make long hair, cause the portrait is not the only thing that will be customized - you will be able to change outfit too and long hair might conflict with those. We had to define compromises.
As for letting people in, we haven't though a lot about it. I don't know how we pick the first of the first, probably the ones who have been most active here or this blog and forum + some of our veteran players from our other online game (gunrox), but eventually we will invite all people signed up for beta-test and on these forums. Later we will implement invites for testers so they can invite to beta someone else they know.
Once we will start letting people in, the process will be going on and on.

Lol - You beat me to the question about the beta testing An81angel. I beta tested TTG and would love to be included in the beta testing list for TT2.
Have another question about the game - will we have to search for hidden gems in order to gain a totem/relic, or the ability to upgrade a building? If the answer is yes - then will there be secret islands - such as Rainbow Road? Thanks in advance Berserker :)

There will be enough hidden objects, but we plan to include gems like in original Totem Tribe which will unlock something big by the end of the game.
Building and upgrading is a bit different, it has nothing to do with exploration and finding items part. To build a building you must research it first and then have enough resources to build. To upgrade you only need resources.
As for the secret levels - the game is planned non-linear, so it will be possible to miss some possible locations and items on one playthrough.
