Wearable items for your hero

Wearable items for your hero

The work is in full swing lately here at Enkord. All because of the donations you guys and gals generously sending our way. Although the money itself is very important, the donations are most important as a sign of trust. People can tell a lot of compliments, but trusting with their wallets is taking it to the next level. That's why I put this whole donation thing live and it worked. It boosted motivation of my team by showing that people do actually trust in this game a lot. They needed such motivation because working on this game 2 years straight can be tiresome. Huge thanks to anyone who donated so far!

And since the work is humming we have something to show to you.

In original Totem Tribe items and artifacts found in the game usually was stashed into treasury and beside giving some passive bonus they had no use. This time around there will be whole new category of wearable items. Aside giving some cool bonus you can actually put such item on your hero and it will change his or her appearance. Take a look at this set of chieftain wardrobe items. That's just only a small sequence of items. The final game will feature a lot more - and you can combine them to create unique look. Other players will be able to see it in the info about you in the game, or even here on forums!

Here is the detailed picture with the items you can wear.

Looks awesome. If you sell merch for this game you could style clothes like the ones the heroes wear.

Oh wow, this looks awesome.

Will you be able to dye them different colors?

For instance, this set show above is all brown, what if another set with different stats is a different color, such as blue. then if you mix and match you have some blue gear and some brown gear, right? what if we want the colors of the gear to match? will we have a dye shop that we can build in our tribe's village? what if we want our hero to wear hot pink gear the entire game? will we be able to dye the gear to be what ever color we want, but still have the original look of the gear? what if we like the look of a gear, but want the stats of different gear, can we stitch the looks we want to the stats we want? if yes, will we be able to unstitch later if we want to use the look of the gear on a set gear even higher stats?

Thanks for the update, excited for more.

to berserker> Now look what you've done. We go totally crazy over those stylings, and if you follow all our requests (see Anangel above) your game will be on the market , let me calculate, in the year 2090 or so. lol! Anyway it looks to become more and more awesome with each secret you lift! You guys do a great job! Can't wait! Oh okay, will have to wait until 2090... ;))

Anangel,

No, unfortunately you will not be able to dye them. As you can see, those outfits on the hero doll are not 3D models, they are manually painted and thus it is very hard to make it both able to change color and look good. With skin/hair/eye color we basically made copies of each element for each color and manually edited them so all of them look good. But skin/hair/eye color are quite important, with cloth it will be overkill and as Andruxius said, it will make the game to be made in 2090. Thus we decided to skip on color for cloth.

However I think there will be enough room for customization since this picture shows only 1 set out of 6 for Stone Age alone. But each age will have own sets, 6 per Age! You can combine elements from various sets and ages thus making your hero look unique.

Those sets I mentioned above are standard and available to everyone, but if the game will be successful and profitable, later we could add premium visual outfit pieces to allow customize your hero even more.

What I am proud of not the variety, but the look our character artist managed to create. She did a great job making those pained hero dolls. In most games hero is represented by 3D model and those models usually look a bit generic and unnatural. Here the painted nature of hero make them look more alive. Honestly I haven't seen the game which has such detailed painted hero portraits that can be customized bit by bit like in TT2. If you know such game - tell me a name, I would love to take a look and maybe learn something useful from them.

As for the look vs stats, there will be 2 types of wearable items - "equipment" and "visual". Equipment improves your stats and provides some look to your hero. On the other side visual items will only change your look without altering your stat. The visual items will override look of the equipment item of the same category. You can even have "invisible" visual item to hide away your equipment item. The alpha version of the game will have only equipment items available, since they are important to the actual gameplay, while visual items is planned as premium items to be implemented some time later.

Andruxius,

Don't get yourself misguided :) While we are hearing attentively to what people say, we only do rational changes - only those things that either very important or do not require to much time to change. Plus while words of players are important, the most important is their actions - i.e. HOW they actually PLAY :)

Thus the most important phase of feedback/changes will be when we will launch closed alpha. Since the game will be online - we will be able to see how you play and what you do in the game - and fix it accordingly. We will see where people get stuck or what they prefer to do and what makes them struggle. Sometimes there might be something bad that players don't even realize, and we can see and fix it :)

Too early to talk about future ages. We plan to release stone age and antiquity (classical age) in alpha.
