Several questions to those who found Gromus.

1. How did you get into the cave? (There are several ways)

2. How difficult was the puzzle? I could have made it easier but since it is not obligatory to progress I decided to leave it as is and get some feedback.

3. Also post here what you did to solve quests in this location - it will be interesting to see how different people did it as there are various ways.

4. Finally I would like to know how this location compares to the quest locations from original Totem Tribe in terms of size and content quality.

1. I enter the cave by solving the quests of statues entering the grave and removed the stone there with my chisel.

2. I couldn't solve the puzzle without help.
- I couldn'f found the meat for the last cavemen.
- I saw the 3 and 4 but leave there for some days because the high number of stone we need to transfer. In meantime i set my 2nd town and my hero must be go there. So i finish the quest of stones just some days later, and move to the other side of river, i found the 1 and 2 but didn't remember the 3 and 4 anymore. It was just fortune for me to see it again. Even because all around was marked as "TODO".
- The fighting always looked like just my hero and 1 of my soldiers fight, others just stay around and in bossfight they all die without doing something. After level up my hero i won the bossfight.
- At the quest of statues i didn't noticed the changes by clicking the 3 or 4. Because of the sound i thought nothing happens just with the tipps here a noticed the way to solve this quest.

3. I solved the quest mainly with help so i can't say anything new but adventurer are not my primary genre.

4. I don't play TT much, i didn't liked the fact to lose a level just because you built some buildngs at a wrong place and so you have no space anymore for something you need later. This happens to me different times and so i stopped playing the original game very soon. TT2 really looks much more better and find many things comparing my thought of game fun, as you know i like primary strategical and tactical games, building up is fun too, hidden objects and adventures not my primary genre but the mix is ok as long as i can find everything i need.

brendatimj, what's an item? Where did you find it? It seems that I searched everything already and found nothing to get past these rocks

OK so I got in with the chisel and went and found gromus this time. That quest completes but I cannot get the chest that needs the rock-o-holes to open. I used them earlier when I got in via bug. When I get near chest I lose connection every time. Cave man quest is not complete but I didn't go out the cave past them because of the chest problem I have to leave opposition hideout. Will try one more time ignoring the chest to see if it completes

OK I can go in the cave though the puzzle entrance and out through the caveman entrance but still can't get the caveman quest to complete and still lose connection when I try to open the chest. This is all in dwelling of Tuey

I have to agree with the others: I used the flag cheat. And am greatly stuck. I think I found a random item that would help me, but it seems that is probably for something else.

I enjoy the quest, but have to say that after completing the puzzle and seeing the pile of rocks I got completely and utterly stuck. I spent 2 days thinking about how to do it before giving up and looking for a hint: and I hate doing that. I like being able to work things out on my own and am good at cryptic puzzles, but everything after the red rocks is too obscure for me.

I am surprised people have trouble breaking those rocks as there are plenty of items that could break them, even if you don't have chisel. Paton Hammer would do, as well as Daj'bog's Pickaxe along with Daj'bog's Jackhammer. Anything that looks like it can do it :)

I've thought about this completely the wrong way then... Since they are not "quest stuff" and not located under the Adventure-tab  in my inventory I never even considered using them. It just seemed logical that I couldn't use power-ups for adventure-stuff like accessing areas of the map - since they are power-ups I didn't actually think of them as proper items being a hammer or a pick-axe, just a symbol. Maybe I've played too many games... Immediately off to throw all pickaxes at all stone slabs! And here I've been annoyed I've found both  bucket of water and torch but have no ice or fire to remove...:-D

Thanks berserker!

I'd never thougth about using that item, well, it isn't  quest stuff as tulip said. i got in by the bug, i explored the cave, got the rock-o-hole, but after using them i can't open the chest, so i'm still trying to find the last meat piece to enter as you are supposed to. I have tried everything, i even thougth that it would be inside the snowman so i tried to melt it with a torch, but nothing. EDIT I just used the pickaxe and entered, and all works, the chest opens and the mission "find the hideout" or whatever finishes, but "Cavemen and their cave continues active, should i post this as a bug?

Edited 33 minutes later by . Reason: Already entered the cave.

If you haven't got in by dealing with cavemen then their quest being opened will not be done.

Ok, I have to agree with Tulip. I just assumed that those items where only for increasing resources and didn't think
about using them on the stones. That's actually incredibly confusing and frustrating because "items that look the part" is not the same as "items that do X". I don't know that a majority of players would figure it out.

Why confusing? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

It's the thing about something being either a quest/adventure item, or a power up - and not getting in my head that power-ups may also be adventure items. Based solely on pre-conceived notions on my part!

But powerups still items, no? I assume it's item categories that confusing you? We did those because there are too many items and you need a way to order them.

Consider powerups as items with special "magic" powers but they are still items.

That's fair - it's a mechanic to learn that's all. I've just tried the pickaxe on both the cracked statue and a small rock (not a pile of slabs, but a small pointy pyramid-shaped rock blocking a path) and in both times it asked if I was sure I wanted to use it, and the nothing happened (but the item was used and no longer in my inventory). I'm thinking there is going to be a list by players here on the forums noting what works with what, to avoid wasting power ups. Since the items in the adventure category don't get used up it doesn't apply to them.

Item used up and nothing happens is definitely a bug I need to look into it.

EDIT: I have figure out. Currently dragging powerup item on the playfield area uses up the powerup on the whole town which is definitely a bug. We will fix it in the next update.

If it looks like a duck but has a description that says it's a specific type of duck that swims in a specific type of area, maybe people won't realise that the duck can also swim in other ponds as well.

Good rule of thumb: just because it's obvious to the people who designed it, doesn't make it obvious to everyone else.

Also, if it looks like a duck but quacks like a bug... ;)

@Tulip

Your suggestion for tips is noted. I will add it to my list when I have the time.

I also would not have tried to use the speedups. I did try that in stage 1 using the hammer on rocks and it said it was not strong enough and so I didn't think to try it here :( but still since caveman quest won't complete either way not sure it matters. Someone said kill a dog to get meat but that will not be an option for me.I am not willing to slaughter a dog. When I try to attack caveman with my army they just run away. guess I won't be completing that quest :(

That's why I am asking why it's not obvious. The description on those items does not say it's exclusively does what it does and cannot be poked around with. Actaully some people did managed to apply it so it's not only me. I've programmed the ability to use powerups because I thought people would be confused why they have a pickaxe and unable to break the slates with it.

In cases where items look like they could work but do not work due to game design decision I try to come up with believable explanation. For example you need a knife or sword (which are usually equipable items and not quest items) to cut wild cabbage, but people might try to use stone scythe as well. I've programmed that wild cabbage is shred to pieces and message pops up that you need more delicate tool.

I think it will be more confusing when people will have an item that perfectly fits to solve their situation, but unable to use it because it's powerup. At least in such cases they still need explanation why they cannot use it. Not all people will understand the "specialness" behind powerups at all.

Overall I don't understand why you find the ability to break rocks with pickaxe confusing and prohibition to break it - not :) And I am trying hard to figure out :)
