SPOILER: Survey for those who beat the Opposition Hideout

1 2 3 4 5 6

I started a new hero, DelrayIII, and took her through the hideout. The group was killed the first try with the Dendrogs, no biggie it happens a lot. I am not sure if this is a bug, but second time around my hero died, rose above the crowd with angel wings and all, and disappeared. There was one Dendrog left and three warriors. Then, the dendrog disappears, and my hero walks in from ... where? Anyway it went down as a win, but it was kind of .. different. It looks as if the outcome is pre-set, and as a player I wouldn't want to see that.

If it looks like a duck but has a description that says it's a specific type of duck that swims in a specific type of area, maybe people won't realise that the duck can also swim in other ponds as well.

Good rule of thumb: just because it's obvious to the people who designed it, doesn't make it obvious to everyone else.

That's why I am asking why it's not obvious. The description on those items does not say it's exclusively does what it does and cannot be poked around with. Actaully some people did managed to apply it so it's not only me. I've programmed the ability to use powerups because I thought people would be confused why they have a pickaxe and unable to break the slates with it.

In cases where items look like they could work but do not work due to game design decision I try to come up with believable explanation. For example you need a knife or sword (which are usually equipable items and not quest items) to cut wild cabbage, but people might try to use stone scythe as well. I've programmed that wild cabbage is shred to pieces and message pops up that you need more delicate tool.

I think it will be more confusing when people will have an item that perfectly fits to solve their situation, but unable to use it because it's powerup. At least in such cases they still need explanation why they cannot use it. Not all people will understand the "specialness" behind powerups at all.

Overall I don't understand why you find the ability to break rocks with pickaxe confusing and prohibition to break it - not :) And I am trying hard to figure out :)

with regard to harvesting cabbage...the "apa dagger" has a red no sign over it implying that it is not usable anywhere at all. had i not read these comment i'd have not figured out that i could use such equipment for anything other than equipping my hero. i've been looking for DAYS for some kind of knife that behaves more like the roots, beechnuts, etc that one finds to feed the other animals. serioulsy, there needs to be some consistency with tools, equipment, feeding of creatures, etc.

As I stated on another thread, I am late to the party, but I did manage to get to Opposition Hideout with my first hero.  I got into the cave using the Statue puzzle, but I confess I had to read part of this thread to realize that it really is a finished puzzle.  I never could defeat the carnivorous animals, and lost my dogs, my hero and my army. Sadly, it took ages to retrain new braves and I never got my dogs back.

The puzzle isn't too bad once you realize it is functional and recognize the relationship between the numbers.  After that it is a matter of keeping track of what you are clicking and planning accordingly.

I have yet to find the chisel and the pickaxe does not work on the stone pile in my dwelling.  I need to eliminate that to get to a chest.  I also have to eliminate some blue crystals that I assume are ice and have not found a torch with which to melt them.  I'll keep looking, however.

I have created another hero and really like that the spawning of items and whatnot are different between the two.  It's like playing a whole new game!

Item used up and nothing happens is definitely a bug I need to look into it.

EDIT: I have figure out. Currently dragging powerup item on the playfield area uses up the powerup on the whole town which is definitely a bug. We will fix it in the next update.

when i entered the cave with the riddle in oposition Hideout I found the 3rd peace of meat and it disapeared in my list of items or didnt go in when I talked to the caveman I wanted to give it to them and it wasnt there

Everyone here start by "after the I crossed the wade" while for me it was the least obvious thing (and I had no problem completing both totem tribe to 100%, except for some too much hidden items), I simply wouldn't have done it without help from people in the chat : you need to build a bridge : why should I think about this ? I have no workers there, who would build it, my hero ? And from what I understand you can't bring back resources, so you don't want to take the risk of wasting some in a game you can be attacked by other players where you would rather use those for economy/defense.

Then, if the puzzle can't be solved before you cross the bridge, it simply shouldn't be here, spending time trying to click on first then second statue then numbers or something, is aggravating.

And honestly, I don't care about the presence of a depleted stone source there, if I want to cross a river, I mean, in my mind, I would rather bring some lumber to make a raft (but if you try this more obvious thing you would actually waste lumbers, see...) than, I mean, BUILDING A WHOLE BRIDGE, especially exactly where an older bridge was destroyed, thus with the idea that it might be destroyed once again.

Plus, I think there should be some hint about if this is something you should be doing as soon as possible or only once you have a better economy/army, right now some people may be using all there economy doing this and discover once it's done that they need a better army for the next part of the quest (if I read the replys here correctly), thus that they should have improved their town first before starting to build the bridge.

I wanted to reply in 1 post but despite being in around 1300 characters I saw "Must be between 8 and 10000 characters long."

There is no rule that you have to beat Opposition Hideout right away.  For some of my heroes I have waited until I had a sufficient army and resources to enter and complete the quest.  It's not something you have to do immediately.

I say this in fact because that's quite the only quest I have, so I expect that it's the first thing I'd better do.

By the way I just spoke to one of the 2 characters just to see and I didn't know it would reward me resources, I did read that you can talk to those people "if you need help", thus I didn't expect them to reward anything at all.

I did the number/statue game as I did the last puzzle in TT1 in the Pyramid with the black and white balls. Trying to click with a certain structure, but not really knowing what I am doing. But it always seems to work. I thought in TT1, that the puzzle just gives you what you want after a certain time or number of clicks, just to get you past the puzzle. I thought here in TT2 it does the same. I got in via cavemen cave, because I still don't have the pickaxe to destroy the stone/boulder. to make it clear to people that the hideout should not be priority one, after it is on the worldmap, maybe you can position it further from the dwelling, with a cleared path to it.

For all the new players:  You really should take the time to read what the characters are saying to you. Gromus does tell you not to hurry to Opposition hideout until you have developed more.  The forum will give you spoilers for hideout puzzles.  You will get all kinds of things from your 2 characters in your dwelling once you complete the tasks that are given to you.

You should take the time to read forum in case someone else is having the same problem and there has been a solution.  It's hard to do when you want to get right into the game.  It may possibly save you time and lessen the frustration level if you do.  We were all new once to this game and found over time that this was a big help

The wade was the easiest thing trying with the statues I found out their numbers 1 to 10 tried all combination wth 3 and 4 but it didnt work looked for mre nothing the fishbones tried to put them on the grave no way so I started to fill up the wade brimging stones with a trader was pretty clear to me when I found 1 and 2 it was quite easy to resolve the puzzle once they started to light up.... got in opened the chest but got stuck with the wall nothing to break it douwn the hammer for 25 more stones I did not want to spend it on that wasnt sure if it functions and that way just trying lost befoere items so I left that beside.... didnt talk to the villagers ... found last fishing item....went to the caveman gave them the meat I found one went in ... gave later the second meat... second went in .... so I found dendrogs fought some with the 3 of them died first time..... went back  talked to fisherman  ....brought a fish with me and gave it to him...o.k. got the information late...trying to enter the cave  giving fish not meat didnt work....trying to go in with my flag to see what happens Hero goes to a big Rock but dont know how to get in there also I know there is another entrance but I havent tool to crack the rock... hopefully fight the dendogs to get more meat I died about 3 times more ...found a bug with them (Beserker worked it out now) ... then I asked looked in the Forum found out that I can use the tool of 25% of more stones to crack down the stonewall even if I loose it so I did that talked with the 3 and opened the chest with the 10 stoneholes the dendrogs finaly killed with more army

with my second Hero went straight in with the meat for the caveman but cant find the blak key I need for a door inside even if its no problem to talk to the 3

also I dont ave any tool to crack down the wall of the riddle

Already love the game! Thanks guys!

1) I got into the cave via the statues, after asking for help from other players. I need to stop trying to go so fast to catch up and just play (I would have figured it out). That was old-time TT1 fun.

2) Puzzle wasn't really that difficult as I said above, the similarities should have given it away. I just kept clicking on the numbers 1-4 then heard the sounds, went back to statues and saw them changing (rotating) and wrote the pattern...ahh piece of cake!

3) The quests I learned from dying so many times, sent Hero and scout-died, send Hero and braves-died, send all that I had died again, but after resurrecting her, tried again and beat the last dog. Opened the chest, went back to cavemen and ended up with one caveman left. I talked to him numerous times but he kept telling me "no meat, go away". Then someone asked me if I clicked on the footprints, I did and a screen popped up stating "you sure you want to use Dave?" clicked yes, and into the next part of cave I went! What is Dave? The rocks I picked up in the cave was originally by accident, then I searched for the rest and finished. I never did get to speak with Gromus.

4) Compared to TT1, this is more enhanced. I like the option to choose character and change or add cities in one place. The quests will probably be a bit harder but that's because you have had lots of time (via suggestions) and no doubt, complaints, along with your evil little minds, to concoct a game where we have to message you alot with questions! LOL I would like it if there was a place where you could see the items and learn what they do. I made a mistake in the beginning by clicking on a rock (stone age) and using an axe but at the same time, it changed the time of building. (speed-up) Maybe a walk-through for beginners when completed with Alpha?

Anyway, thank you for all your hard work! And no, I am not spending any money on the game but will donate a few times because I like it so much. :)

1 I randomly click the number and the statue til I figured it out (that's 2 days)

2 A bit more hint would be good.

3 I got a day and a half to figure the wade out (well I'm slow ==") and a day to fulfill it. Try to find meat for cave man and fishing rod for fisherman quest , not quite workout. Got 3 meat and 3 pieces of fishing rod. By this time I can solve the puzzle but can't pass the block. After another 2 days of struggle fighting with monster (hero die 4 time) finally I can build primitive ram and used it to clear the block underworld.

Okay this may explain it but we're too use to Facebook games where the items just did the one thing; it is just a mental habit. There is nothing wrong with either side, but maybe putting a wisdom stone in the first town that says "Tools can do more than just improve production," that may fix the problem. I like the game so far but you really need to re-introduce the build que. I know the hammer acts like one but, it just delays too long and I feel like I'm wasting time and resources. basically the hammer should allow two buildings to be built at the same time but if a player doesn't have one or just doesn't have the time to check in every 20 mins; they can set up to three things to build one after another. I just feel like there is room for improvements all around. Also is there a list of tools that get rid set items, I'm stuck with a thorny thicket in my town and I have no idea what would get rid of it.

Are you serious? The description does not exclude uses, therefore it should be obvious that you can use it for things other than what it describes?

Er, ok then... remind me next time I buy butter that I should try to use it as sunscreen then, because nowhere on the packaging says that it shouldn't be used that way.

As for the pick axe, I find it more believable and fitting with the rest of the game that there might be an item, like a jackhammer that can only be used once you reach a certain technological age. I think it's utterly confusing that you have equip-able items, power-ups, and then items that do both. You don't have to have an item that 'perfectly fits', but the way the items are described and the way you are introduced to using them, doesn't make it at all obvious that some do both. It's not even obvious how you combine items or later deconstruct them (yes, allowing for interface changes later I'm aware that might not be implemented at this stage).

Overall I don't understand why you find the ability to break rocks with pickaxe confusing and prohibition to break it - not :) And I am trying hard to figure out :)

It's not that I find using a pickaxe to break rocks confusing. It's that I had assumed the image of the pickaxe was related to the description of being able to increase stone resources. That makes perfect sense as a way to visualise what the power-up does. A simple icon that quickly conveys the power-up usage of the item.

The simple fact that you label it and describe it as a power-up item is the confusing part.

Take the blueprint for example. The blueprint is an easy icon that says "use me on upgrading buildings". If you told me I could also use it for a private message chat, I'd believe you but still be just as confused. Don't forget that the expectations of how to use something is also taught through the game system. If you program the game to repeatedly tell us "use blueprint to upgrade this building", we'd have no knowledge or expectation that it could do anything else.

Anyway, look it's no matter now. I am now aware that I can try more stuff than before. I am mostly annoyed because I scratched my head for days and tried every (obvious) item that I could think of before giving up.

My basic comment still stands: it's probably too obscure and that's why you surveyed us, to find out if it was.

How do you use the powerups differently than the description states? Do you just click on it and expect it to break the stones or is the an additional key you use?
