Newbie with reactions

Hi, all! I've been playing for about six days now and thought I'd give some reactions and feedback.

I love this type of game - I'm playing it solo for the collecting, quests, and puzzles. I had such a great time with TT and TTG and was delighted when I could finally lug my computer out of storage (long story) and get back into a PC world to play TT2.

I love that the gems are back, that there are quests that send me off into different locations, that there is more interaction with different characters, like the old "choose your own adventure" books. I can't wait to jump into a new location and explore it out! My cats, by the way? Hate you. Because I am suddenly spending way too much time on the computer and they don't like it.

The puzzles, however, are driving me insane and make me feel completely stupid. And I'm not. I finally realized that the puzzles are missing that extra push of instructions to get us started.

Examples: The Perfection Tile one. The very basic instruction of how to select and chose the tiles don't exist. I lost I don't know how many rounds, because I didn't know what to do. I'd click on a tile and it would blink at me until it cracked because... what do I do next? Even referring to the forum didn't help, because no one really thought to mention the simple mechanics of "Click the tile, then click the tile that you want it to turn into".

Operation Hideout. Those statues. I am so lost. Back to the forum. There still isn't anything saying what to do, except for people saying it was easy. I know I don't have to do the puzzle to get into the caves, but ... it's a PUZZLE. It has to be done. I'm not even sure if I'm clicking on them right, because there are no instructions.

Keeper's Village: The flowers and the dial - again, instructions on how to move the dial.

The Old Mine has me broken. I get that the pipes need to be turned. I get that the machines need to be connected. But again, there's no basic instruction. What direction is "pointed" toward the machines, when the valves have three directions. In what direction does each machine point to begin with? Again, basic instruction.

I think the developers (this is not meant to be an insult) are so close to the game that they forget that the people who play it don't know these things. We are playing for the first time and need those beginning pushes. Otherwise, at least in my case, I feel like I'm stupid and I want to give up after hours of trying. And I don't want to give up, cause this is supposed to be fun, right?!

OK, suggestions/feedback. How about a warning that when you use the General Store/Blacksmith, etc out in The World, that it will disappear and you have to re-find it again?

Also, when you find something and it rockets into your inventory, can a note also pop up in the chat window? The item hits my inventory so quickly, I've missed what it is.

And something I wistfully wish for... why is it that my hero has to do EVERYTHING and it takes forever? Can't someone else learn to fish and take over doing that? Or dig the archeology sites? We have builders and lumberjacks and farmers and other professions. Waiting 30 mins plus for my hero to catch a fish when there is adventuring to do is ... painful.

...I'll shut up now and fade into the background again... :)

Thank you for a very helpful feedback. Indeed our vision is blurred and it is helpful to hear criticism from someone with a fresh sight.

We will add roadstone with hint to Perfecto puzzle and will add text notification about picked items in the next update.

Speaking about everything being long - it might not obvious at first, but this game is a MMO game (Massively Multiplayer Online) which means you are not alone playing it, but thousands of other players all over the world are playing at the same time with you in the same online realm and can interact with each other. That's why it made slow - so everyone will be able to play at the same universal pace. It may sound fuzzy at first, but you will get it later when you play more.

Bers, what if some of the older players don't want a text notification when picking up items?  Why is it that just one 6 day old players request is listened to, when you ignore requests from players that have been around a lot longer?

Don't start the flame war, there are many requests from veteran players been fulfilled too.

I say just stick a checkbox for item drop text info in the Notifications tab in the Options menu.

There is still plenty of room in that tab for more features IMO.

Notifications need a total rework with detailed customizations - which notifications to show, which to blink, maybe even windows popups for some most important ones, etc. However this is non-trivial and needs a lot of effort. For now I will just add notification for picked item and rework will happen closer to when we will start working on mobile version of the game where proper customization of notifications is essential.

I wasn't trying to step on veteran toes. I wasn't asking for an annoying pop-up window that you have to close out of each time you pick something up. I thought the chat panel was fairly unobtrusive, since it itself can be closed out completely. I was thinking along the lines of like when you find a hidden secret and you get the line in the chat panel.

I also like the suggestion of the notification option, but that sounds like major work and I wasn't trying to step on developers' toes either. I thought the purpose of a beta was to give input. Is there a time limit on how long you have to play before you give input? I'm not trying to be a problem....

My point wasn't to start a flame. We already have far too many text notifications we don't really need and can't turn off.....if you don't recall, an older player asked to be able to turn off some notifications in the past.  Yet now you are adding more useless notifications, with just one request.  When you could have said that new items in inventory have a dot next to them, indicating that they are new. Shouldn't that be enough, without adding a notification we don't need?

Thank you for that info about the Red Dot.

If I recall, the whole reason for the red dot was a request for some way to determine what was picked up because objects retrieved fly into inventory.

What has been repeatedly requested is a slow down of the research points that we collect so we can read them or maybe even a tally in the upper left corner with the resources.  Those we can see add up easily.  :-)

I'm agree with much of what StealthBunny said. I've been playing for 4 days so very new, not just here but to MMO's in general. I play non-cooperative games, preferably FPS, or casual games so this is very new to me. I did play TT1 & Gold many times over.
The individual puzzles are not explained well. I'm stalled on Operation Hideout & Old Mine. I finally figured out Perfection Tile but needed several fails to figure out to click the pattern I wanted that tile to be. Wonderful Garden was a variant of MineSweeper so not hard to figure.
I'm wondering how spectacular my fail with be once I lose my initial protection and need to defend. That's not a complaint, by any means. This is new so I expect a learning curve. If I could do everything immediately, it wouldn't be much fun, would it?
Overall, I am enjoying TT2. There are many familiar elements that make it feel comfortable but also enough new MMO elements that it will be challenging to learn.

I do not understand why there is such a complaint about the notification system popping in the common chat?

If i was to suggest anything it would be to remove the friends are on/off in the CC though, as that gets very annoying when they switch heros and it makes the game icon blink... Just to open the game to find it was just a friend switching or logging off.

Personally I do not see anything wrong with bers adding the item notification in the CC text. It's not like you pick up hundreds of items anyways.

Notification about being attacked should be reworked too. alliance members see it on AC, but the attacked hero only sees it on cc. the attacked should see it in all chats!
