Puzzles were important part of original Totem Tribe and it is important to bring enough puzzles in Totem Tribe 2. Recently we finished the programming preparations necessary to create puzzle in TT2 and created the first one:
From now on, adding other puzzles will be way easier, we only need to create content objects and do some minor logic programming.
There will be basically 2 kinds of puzzles in TT2. Story-related and story-unrelated. Story-related puzzles are exactly like they were in TT1, while story-unrelated puzzles have two important changes:
1. Each puzzle has 6 difficulty levels. The higher difficulty - the greater reward. This means that you can find 2 similar puzzles at different places, but they will have different difficulty levels.
2. Story-unrelated puzzles are randomized - you will never know which one of those puzzles you will find next, where it will be, and the rewards from them are randomized too!
Hopefully this will add replay value and having several difficulty options on same puzzle will increase your playtime and fun from the game.
What do you think?

Firstly - I hope you all had a great Paddys day :).
Secondly - I love the idea of unrelated story puzzles with different difficulty ranges. Does this mean that (a) we can choose the difficulty level for each puzzle and (b) that the unrelated puzzles will not hold us back in the game. Is it possible to finish the game without doing any of the unrelated puzzles? Thanks Berserker :)

a) No, you can't choose the difficulty, the difficulty will increase further into the game. In the beginning you will be encountering puzzles at level 1, then later level 2 and so on. That's because harder puzzle provide better reward and we don't want to spoil player with big rewards right away.
b) Yes, they are completely optional and thus skippable. They just provide extra content and rewards.

Sounds interesting berserker.
Will there be hints or clues as the difficulty increases? I know it really bugs me when i come across a puzzle that i can't figure out.

I love the idea of unrelated random puzzles. I will definitely want to replay and different puzzles will make it more interesting.
PS I found myself trying to guess the way how this puzzle can be solved. Looking forward to TT2!

An81angel,
Increased difficulty does not change the rules, its just increases the board size, etc., so if you figured out how to solve the puzzle on lower difficulty, you will use that knowledge to solve it on higher ones, it just might take more time.
But yes, there will be some hint for each puzzle.

well then give me a hint for the top one. Great I am not even playing the game yet and can't figure out a puzzle. Bet we have to get the black and white ones on either side of the board, to match the King piece.

Beserker could you guys please not do sound based puzzles because I'm hard of hearing and I really, REALLY hate sound puzzles or if you do have a sound based puzzle, please add some kind of visual cue.
I hate it when developers add a sound based puzzle but don't add a visual cue or clues to help.
The chess based puzzle is interesting though.
