Thank you! If we will succeed with German, surely we will try other languages next. French is one major candidate for sure.
Then maybe Freddydelanuit can already translate what he sees in the game (tech tree, some dialogs, items...) in files on his computer so he will just have to copy and paste those when you give him the files to translate ?
This needs to be an organized process in order to be successful and properly integrated back into the game. Enthusiasm from players gives us hope though :)

Hello there; I have already seen all chainwords to translate. The story line is huge and often xml files (no problem to work with). I even have made some works in some of them to make a test but I am waiting for an agreement on this project because it can be a very long work". For instance, here is the work on the launcher (usually) : C:\Program Files\Totem Tribe II\data_launcher\language If you want to test it, the file has always the name "english-1252.xml" but it is in french inside (the setting for french of the main game is not released yet). Here is the shared link for people who want to test it : https://www.mediafire.com/folder/yo71bdd34qact/ Paste it on the original file and it works fine, but the accents are not implemented in this game for now. So some words look weird for now.

Yes, the amount of text is enormous, that's why we are not asking players to translate, we are asking players to proofread the translated text, that should be much easier. The accents are indeed not implemented yet, but we are working on allowing any language in game chat first and translated in-game text hopefully later.

No matter if there is tons of text. I really enjoy this game and I think I could work on it with some times. You even cannot imagine how many pages of text I can translate for some softwares. Since I do this for my leisures (I enjoy to learn english by the way) I am not afraid by the amount of work. I have already worked on xml files, INI files, DLL files, by using hexadecimal softwares (frhed is free and in french with my help), HTML files, exe files (with resource hacker) ... Notepad++ is a fantastic sofware for lots of purposes such translating different files too. I even have already translated a website (always for free and freewares/freemium/open source softwares). I consider TT2 as a freemium and I play often with this game for years now.

If we will start this translation project, we will export the text into Excel file with English phrase and translated one in different colums and that Excel file will be split into parts and distributed to different people so they will not overlap and each will work on different part of the text. Then we will gather translated Excel files and integrate them back into the game.

I won't be able to do any translation myself since I'm even worse in my own language than in english, but if there are other things I can do to help the game just tell what, I might be able to do some of them.

Thank you! You are doing a lot already by reporting obscure bugs :)

Ok. We are about to start working on the translation. How should we get in touch? Should I contact those willing to proofread via email specified in their registration? I think maybe we should make a skype group for fast communication? How many of those who posted here use skype?

Isn't it easier with discord ? People don't even need to install it, they can load it in browser, and if you want you can use the one created by stitch here https://discord.gg/NzRvcjU

I don't know about other people but I know I don't check my mails very often, and some people may have a new mail address since they registered for totem tribe, so if some don't reply, you should pm them in the game, that's really where you have the most chances to find them after all. If you don't feel like sending a pm to each of them one by one, at least send a message on the english common chat.

I have Skype, but dont use it on a regular base. For fast communication i would prefer Discord, and i know that several ppl who posted here use it too. (We already thought about creating a Discord-Server for the translation-project) I'm also ok with email. If needed i could pm the others later in the game and ask for their preferences

First of all, I want to thank you all for your desire to help! Translation would not be possible without your good will. I’ll explain what we are planning to do. And what to expect next. First, if you are interested in helping with proof-reading, mail me, please. After the first part translation will be over (it may take one month or more), we will give this part for those who want to do some proof-reading. First of all, we have about 27000 lines of text with more than 300 000 words for translation. The translator group consists of two people and translation will take time. These people are professional university teachers and are skilled and competent in German language, but we are not sure how appropriate their translation will be. So, any of you who wants to join the effort, please contact me and if everything is OK, after 10% of translation will be done, you will get text for proof-reading. This way we can get rid of any misunderstandings or inappropriate translation, most of the possible errors and typos, and other issues. If all goes according to plan, after you finished proof-reading and we analyze your feedback, we will give the second part for translation while you may change your mind or plans or on the contrary someone else will join the proof-readers team. Then same thing will be done with the next part, then with the next until last fifth part will be finished. And after final errors check, file will be given to main developer team for adaptation, integration and final correction. Then translation into German for Totem Tribe II will be released in the game itself! We don’t have deadline for the whole work. But most definitely it will take months. We are not sure about the best proof-reading option and there are two approaches here – individual proof-reading for only the selected part of the translation or team collaboration working with whole translated part. In more details. First option is to give selected part to each one for proof-reading and afterwards putting parts together. And considering your feedback to the quality of the translation give it back to translators together with your recommendations. For this option, you’ll need to do proof-reading of all by yourself in your free time, it’s not limited but yet – process cannot last forever. Second approach is team collaboration. After translation of first part all who want to help proof-reading it will get the access and you all will work together in Google Spreadsheets. This is more fluent option but as it always happens – some will do most of the job, while others – not so much. Yet, as we are very limited with time and resources here, collaboration seems the best option. Both approaches have their cons and pros and I would like to hear your opinion, which one you like more?

The big success of russian translation probably comes from the fact that, since they use Cyrillic characters, it's harder for russian people to learn english than european, among other reasons. So I was thinking, to attract more players to the game, wouldn't be chinese and korean best to do next ? They also don't use the english characters, chinese people play a lot a similar chinese game called Clash of King and south-korean people play a lot on computers, unlike japanese people for some reason.

First part of the text is finished and we can proof-read the resulting translation now.
After we finish proofreading, we will see what should be done next. I sincerely
hope result will be satisfying. If someone else wants to join the board –
please, write a letter to the given email.

Hello, I just looked at the document. As in modern English there is no difference between familiar and formal (it's always "you"), traductors are using the 2 forms in the same category of texts. I'm asked to verify 501-600 and there are the achievements. For ex. I see what you did there was translated with the familiar "Du", and the next one Perform a succesful spy with the formal "Sie". Which one want we prefer?
