My opinion on the state of the game after I achieved war victory (SPOILERS)

I've been playing totem tribe jotun for a while, I got into this game because I played totem tribe original and totem tribe gold. In the beginning I really enjoyed this game and found so much content, I can't say the same for right now though...

Veteran players suffer from lack of enjoyable content as the more you play this game the more repetitive and boring the content gets and more and more feels like a chore, for example: Rebuilding towns from zero after making a new hero or achieving a victory is basically the same thing every time, then quest locations like dungeons and mines I find dungeons to be less tedious than mines but they get stale when you do them 100+, ruins on the other hand are better in my opinion, I like that triggering the last switch returns you to the beginning of the ruins, not far from the door that is opened, the puzzles are fine I enjoy most of them except the digging for levers one which can be boring but is fine I guess and the ruins overall are definitely an upgrade over dungeons and mines. Caves are decent, however having to sometime move like 20+ stones to search for items/keys under them is not fun to do over and over, Main story locations like karfaree/thornsvile/preddo mountain are interesting, cause there are different ways to approach them and there isn't necessary only 1 way to progress through them which makes them enjoyable and unique as they should be.

What do I want to see in this game?

I want to see the game's planned projects finished, like the science, expansion and adventure victories, the rest of the storyline and story locations of the game and all other TBD stuff, in my opinion making more victories available to players will give them much more content and give them new challenges instead of the recurring wealth victory or sometimes culture victory, I would like to see unique (non repetitive) game modes that would keep players occupied, more co-op content (pve or pvp) to encourage interactions between players, I want new content to be flexible and feel less repetitive, maybe a random seed system for newer content to make it more interesting to repeat, dungeons and mines' system does not cut it, although the puzzle existence and order feel random, the puzzles themselves are not, they feel like the same thing to do over and over, same mechanics and same approach.

What do I think of the war victory?

I think it is interesting in some parts, but sadly lots of it is utterly boring and impractical, the best thing about the victory is the end fight which is pretty good, the worst part of this victory is that it is "impossible" or near impossible without coordination with other players(volunteer victims), the most infamous trophy that makes it so tedious is the towers trophy, it takes too long and almost every player I attacked rarely gave more than 2-3 tower trophies because either they don't have upgraded towers or enough towers, I think the towers required trophy number should be significantly reduced, maybe to 300 or even 200-250 and the same concept goes for wall trophy, the other trophies that are difficult without help are siege and reinforcement, unless there is a very active and destructive alliance war it is nearly impossible to do both of these trophies without help, people rarely make siege and will usually protect them from attackers if they do, reinforcements are just too many, It is probably possible but it will probably take too long, the last notable trophy is the plunder one, it is doable on all occasions but it just take so long I would suggest reducing it to 4000, the trophies that I "like" or rather don't hate are spying, culture-production-military buildings destruction and the last two trophies, as they are all doable and some of them require more strategy and thinking, maybe it would be nice if getting an excess amount of other already complete trophies gives you some tokens that you can redeem for adding more trophies to the unfinished ones in trophy hall , In general I would love to see victories attached to more quest locations like karfaree or maybe even new ones that you create in the future.

What do I want from the developers?

I want them to keep listening to more feedback from all players , as that is the base of success for any unfinished game.

I want them to focus on improving the game and getting new players at the same time in their decisions.

Finally I'd like to thank you for working on this great game, I wish you good luck and I look forward to future updates.

I said it already but he didn't listen (so far he listened only to people like you that actually did the victory (no matter HOW it was done)), sometime he came in the common chat and said things like "ah, I see that now some people are doing war victory, great !" without checking HOW they did it: they NEVER did it without volunteer victims, I'm probably the one that did the best setup to do it without that "cheat" (and still my trophy hall would have been only like level 3 if there wasn't a player with no alliance that stopped playing, allowing me to get stripes on him) so I probably went further than anyone, and in the end I did some math: some trophies would require around 500 days to be done, while some are just impossible at all, the main reason being that, some years ago, it would have been probably possible thanks to bad alliances that always reinforced with all their units an attacked town even when they had not a chance of defending anything, giving free trophies each time, but since that time, people became better (and frankly they're still not even very good at all, some were just even worst in the past) and now they don't reinforce at all for a few attacks while training the most units possible to suddenly make a big reinforcement and destroy the whole army. And, not like it would change much, but unlike stripes, if you loose your army, you loose all the trophies you would have earned in that battle, you can't get them back by attacking again in the next 48 hours.

Exactly why I can't play the game any more. I tried 2 times to come play, but it was just so boring and repetitive. True I played for over 6 years, sigh. I would like an end game, I would like the other victories, the war one just seemed so mean and unnecessary to me. Could not bring myself to attack over and over and over.

I personally think all the victories are tedious busy work. They really don't help you at all to become a master at that part of the game and, in fact, with the war victory you need to do things counter to being a good despot in order to achieve it. I have seldom (maybe never) heard anyone say they enjoyed a particular victory. Most say it is a long and boring process they do for the goodies at the end. No one has ever said to me it was fun and challenging.

I tried the war victory once. Unfortunately, I was attacked as I was pretty near the end and lost my Trophy Hall in the attack. At that time, when you lost the hall, you lost all your trophies and your stripes and had to start over again. There wasn't time left on the hero to start over, so I didn't. Even if I would have had the time, it was so boring that I just couldn't bring myself to try it again. I have, however, since then created several victim heroes whose sole purpose was to help someone else achieve the victory, so I'm very aware of what it requires and can't bring myself to try it again. I've only done the wealth victory, which is easy and mindless and ok to do with one hero when you are starting a new one. Not sure I'll try the culture victory, having had it explained to me now several times. To a person who has done it and described it, it is boring and ridiculous.

There are many continents available.  Why not give those, who have achieved a victory, an option for a special continent.  One where they start in Medieval age, so they can skip the earlier ages.

Give them a free pass, on the older stuff (have the game think they did them already), so they can just go with the newer, fresher content.

I have no idea if this is do-able or a lot of work.  But maybe the veterans would enjoy a pond, that's all big fish and no small fry?  It would also reduce, the number of veterans around to upset newer players.

There would need to be something, to stop them attacking other continents, or other things, that might be considered unfair.

Yeah I waited years to do victories because of how not fun they are (plus I don't care about the rewards), and that was just because I wondered what would happen if I did both wealth and culture victory at the same time. Was a bit fun for how glitchy the end looked. Counted just as wealth victory though.

Why are some replies sent anonymous? Personally, those replies for me don't count. It's like grafitti. Unless you have a valid reason to stay anonymous, i see no need to do that here in forum in this post.

I look at this game from a different angle. I welcome all the new players that can access this game by iphone now and hope it will give a broader player base. As for the game itself, it has so many aspects for all kind of game play that makes it unique. Let the developers take their own pace to develope it further.

This game is not just pvp...if you want that, plenty of other games to get some. This game is not just storylines...if you want that, dito.

For me this game is more like role playing. It's more role play than just doing puzzles or pvp action gaming. Interaction with other players is important. But it's also important to give a possitive feed back to the community, including the developers.

If you like victories, you can get them, if you like to get achievements, the same; as it goes for just doing puzzles. But if you get bored, just quit. I did, than came back after some years and like it again as when i first started!

The developers can see the identity of anonymous people so it shouldn't matter when this post is generally directed towards them.

One point of this thread is to give feedback and highlight the reasons why people quit or get bored and prevent that by giving suggestions for either modifying current content or for future content, "just quit and come back later" is not a solution for the problem and it will not help the population of the game nor the game itself.

"Didn't listen" and "listened but didn't react" are different things. Keep in mind, that we are only a couple of people working on this game versus large staff if hundreds of developers normally working on games of this scale and therefore our resources are extremely limited and we have to focus on things that either are the most impactful or trivial to fix.

When you play the game for over 6 years anything could become boring. Unfortunately, like I said in the reply above, we are only a couple of people working on this game and have to focus on things that will bring the biggest potential benefit. Those things are bringing more players in so the overall donations will increase and will allow us to fund other TT2 updates. Thats why we are focusing on porting this game to browser and phone for the last year. Unfortunately new content like quest locations does not affect our income significantly but requires a lot of money to produce which we are unable to afford at the moment. Basically it is luxury at the current state of the game.

Maybe you have misconception that this game brings us a lot of money and we are lazy to produce new content, but it's quite the contrary - we can only afford only limited number of updates right now. Frankly, this game is possible only because we live in the cheap country and the amount of donations so far allowed to keep the game going. If we have lived in expensive country like USA, this game would have been closed years ago if even started.

It's not totally exact: when Lucifleur made his first victory, you did listen and react a bit to him by lowering slightly amount of quite some random trophies, when someone else did it recently, you did too, you can see that here https://www.totemtribe.com/talk/tt2-update-log/25/ you increased the amount of spy trophies made easier, which frankly, is quite worse than before to me, I was able to make the 100 quite easily but found it very repetitive, now it's 3 times more clicks. I just meant that so far, you listened more to those who did victory by "cheating" rather than those like me that tried it the intended way.

But whatever, I'm not judging you, thanks for answering that thread, I was right about the fact that your strategy is to make this game mobile compatible to increase funds, let's hope it works. Also, about people complaining about the lack of new content: it's quite normal to be bored after many years playing the same game, I mean, you didn't play that long to games like Mario Odyssey or Zelda Ocarina of Time, and for those you can't legally play them for free, now on the other hand, you can spend even more time playing games like World of Warcraft, but that's because the amount of money they generate is more than enough to make new content often, so with the little amount of players this game has so far it was quite unexpected to have ruins released recently. I'd just like to point one thing though: when some players donate ton of money and are in information age in 40 days and start destroying everyone, I find it quite disgusting (and if they played well and were motivated too they could be way more destructive). But when they stop playing, obviously I start thinking, "who will pay the game for me now ?" lol.
