I'm usually not into the stories of games much, but "whoisthisgit" on youtube in his "creepy bad endings" videos made me more interested about them. Instead of showing all the dialogues of a game, including ton of meaningless details that would annoy me, he sum up only the important parts of the story of a game. But since he isn't playing this game, unfortunately he won't do a video about it, so that's why I'm asking here :
- What is the story of this game ? I don't know much about it because I often skip dialogues because they have too many boring details, plus since this is a real time game, the time I would spend reading those is time during which my towns might not be upgrading or could even be under attack (or the one of an alliance member) and I want my hero back in town as soon as possible so he can boost resources and science. Act 1 is not even finished so there sure will be more in the future, but what are we supposed to know so far ?
- How is Totem Tribe 2 story connected to Totem Tribe 1 story, if in anything at all ?
- Do we learn at some point who is the girl that is turned into stone right at the beginning of the game ? She is right next to us all the time, we know she is there, and we don't care. Also, we get summoned to some statue that can get cracked when level 50, do we know the meaning/use of this yet ?
- Who is your hero supposed to be ?
- In Gypsy Tabor, is there any sense about the death card the oracle shows us ? Like, if we end up doing a victory (including the one of the story when all acts will be released), who is supposed to die ?
- What exactly were the precursors ? From the little I understand about them, they were people living on another planet with high technology. No idea why they had to flee to Teya or something, and what happened to them after.
- I didn't do the anomalies because I really don't like them, but I saw the complete log of them and saw a bit of dialogues with the terminals, and I still didn't learn much, lot of repetitive details and no big answer, are we actually supposed to learn something important there ? Same for the apocalypse puzzle that opens a place in Muscard Marsh.
- I did the ruins so I had the final conversation, but I feel like I didn't learn much, and I didn't saw all special places like prison zoo market etc. What do we learn ? The precursor we meet told me that the amulet of koldaya is dangerous but didn't tell exactly why. What else should we learn, if anything ?
- Am I wrong or the apocalypse is poorly justified in the story ? I mean, it seems just like, it's a game mechanic and the story was added on it after, trying as possible to explain it while there isn't much reason to it. Same for victories in fact. It might really be it, it's common in video games for their developer to have gameplay ideas first and then try to incorporate them in the story, no matter how it can sometime make no sense (I still prefer this than the opposite: a good story giving a boring gameplay).
Don't hesitate to tell stories about anything else in this game that I likely forgot about.
