Personally, my solution would be craft-able speaker horns, they would take 12-24 hours to make, would count as a separate item then the normal horns and you can only hold so many crafted ones at a time to prevent mass chat spamming. Just my 2 cents though :/
How about a parlament? it would be a normal building in which you can craft that item, that can only be stored in a simmilar way than upgrades in the blacksmith. it would cost some resources and like you said, it would be different than purchased speakers. for me thats a great idea, what do you think about it?

You could allow everyone to have 1 free daily message that doesnt "stack" with tomorrows one and the rest communication from speakerhorns. After all there is a block button if you are afraid 1 person will say same free message every day

God, bringing this up again, it's one of the main reasons I'm not having fun. I would have even bought some speaker horns if you didn't charge 3 dollars for one message. It's severely limiting the conversations I can have, because I have to decide if I should use the one horn I got in the past 3 days to talk to someone or not. Edit: I want to add on, that I think the fact that you don't just set a limit to the amount of free messages someone have, and then charge speaker horns to go over the limit, is a really really simple solution to this so called spam and the sort that apparently happened years ago. I'm just...irritated that an online game charges you to use the global chat to communicate.

Consider sending an private message instead? To send an private message find player you want to talk with and right-click their username. Then click speech bubble on lower left (of window that opened). Private messages don't require speaker horns. :)

My issue wasn't with private messages, they work just fine. My issue was with global chat being severely limited. I private message people I am familiar with, I wouldn't have met my alliance buddies if I hadn't of messaged in general chat asking about the game. General chats in any and all online games are ways to put yourself out there to strangers and communicate, make friends, and then you can PM people you know. You can't just pull a name out of thin air and start talking to them out of nowhere, you have to at least have seen them once in general chat. Or if they are your neighbor. But you are essentially limiting who you know even exist if they are discouraged constantly by a pay wall or a scavenger hunt to talk in a global chat.

What has happened with the common chat is people do not use it much, except new people. I get plenty of speaker horns for my needs, usually telling someone I will PM them the answer. The amount given as rewards must have changed quite a bit from the original forum posts made 5 years ago. BUT, what has happened is that players are going out of game to web sites created specifically for gamers to use due to not being able to communicate within a game to have the communication they are expecting. Some alliances now plan massive attacks entirely out of game, due to not having another way to communicate easily from 1 alliance to another within the game. I understand this is also for secrecy reasons. My point is that the players find it necessary to leave the game, to another web site to communicate. No problems for me with this, other than both the alliance chat and the common chat are extremely quiet now.

My point is that the players find it necessary to leave the game, to another web site to communicate. There is nothing that can be done about it, because no way game can offer that level of communication convenience as dedicated programs created specifically for chatting and/or voicing.
