How to fix crashed islands

Sometimes your save files became corrupted and when you are trying to return back to previously completed level the game crashes. This means that save file for that level is broken and you need to start a new profile to play the game from scratch. However there is a posibility to reset that particular crashing island and replay it without starting the game from scratch. To do so, go to the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Enkord\Totem Tribe\ (under Windows XP) or C:\ProgramData\Enkord\Totem Tribe (under Windows Vista) You will know it is the right folder if you will find file "profiles.dat" in it and several other files with names like "quest-XXXXXX-12.dat". Those files named like "quest-XXXXXX-12.dat" represent saves for particular level where "12" in the end of file name means it's save for level 12 which is "Mist Island". Therefore if you have Mist Island which crashes for you, all you need is to delete that file. Here is the list of numbers and corresponding levels: REGULAR: #1 - Tetala Island #2 - Mushroom Island #3 - Dolphin Island #4 - Monkey Island #5 - Seagull Island #6 - Redrock Island #7 - Witch Island #8 - Skull Island #9 - Frozen Vale Island #10 - Yeti Island #11 - Cradle of the North #12 - Mist Island #13 - Scorched Island #14 - Volcano Island #15 - Beetle Island #16 - Shark Archipelago #17 - Island of Worship #18 - Ruins of Dream Shore #19 - Comet Crash Site #20 - Inside the Comet SECRET: #25 - Lonely Iceberg #26 - Lost Temple #27 - Guardian Moon Please note that those folders might be hidden, so you will need to select "show hidden files and folders" setting in Windows Control Panel. Here is how to do it:

1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop. 2. Click on the Start button. This is the small round button with the Windows flag in the lower left corner. 3. Click on the Control Panel menu option. 4. When the control panel opens you can either be in Classic View or Control Panel Home view: If you are in the Classic View do the following: 1. Double-click on the Folder Options icon. 2. Click on the View tab. 3. Go to step 5. If you are in the Control Panel Home view do the following: 1. Click on the Appearance and Personalization link. 2. Click on Show Hidden Files or Folders. 3. Go to step 5. 5. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders. 6. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types. 7. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files. 8. Press the Apply button and then the OK button.

After you delete particular file you will be forced to replay that level from the start however I think it's better than replaying whole game. P.S. If you are running old version of the game like 1.0 or older, those files mentioned above might be placed under "data" subfolder within folder where you installed the game (Usually C:\Program Files\Totem Tribe\data) P.P.S. if you will find file with ".xml" extension like "level11.xml" - DO NOT DELETE IT. This is wrong file and will corrupt your game if you delete it. File you need has exactly ".dat" extension/type so don't delete other files, keep searching for correct ones.

Only if your profile have different name lengths. The longer name the more XXX characters you will have in save name "quest-XXXXX-YY.dat"

Probably you've deleted wrong file.
