Argh - don't you hate it when you hit "send" then think... hang on, let's just check that...!!!

I now realise that the link I was looking at (and put in my post) must be an old link, to a version with a mistake in it.

However, having now followed the link in Sandy Sue's post, to what I assume is the correct one, I'm finding that I can't put the number of flowers in at the top, as the whole document is coming up as read only.

However, if I make a copy of the document, that then works fine. The possible solutions I posted are still the ones to try Izabet

I finally work!! Thank you so much.

This puzzle is soooo confusing. If someone could try and solve it for me that'd be great

HINTS: 5=1, 3=4, ?=?

FLOWERS: WHITE = 8, YELLOW=5, RED=6

I have had a look at the spreadsheet but it doesn't make any sense, how do I get 856 and 5=1 into an answer?

Previous alphas, no problem solving.  This time nothing works.  9 white, 6 yellow, 2 red   9=6, 8=0, 8=1 which gives me 669,114,225.  None work.  Any ideas?

recalculate for yellow flowers, the others are good

For all those that still can't solve it, this answer pretty much sums it up:

1. Write out the digits 0-9 on a bit of paper.  Then take your first hint - for example 3=7.

2. On the row below, write "7" below the "3".  Then continue the digits in order on the second row - wrap around when you get to the end, like this:

You don't have to write it on paper, the other circle with numbers there can serve the same purpose :)

You don't need the spreadsheet, you don't need paper, you don't need to calculate anything. Just use the circles. (of course, you can also brute force it if you haven't revealed all the clues - there's a few posts above that tell you how). If you have the clues, align the circles for each clue separately and then read the numbers that are given by your flower packs. If it doesn't work try the second clue, and the third.

For example, if your first clue says 5=7 then spin the large circle so that the number "5" on the small one (immovable) aligns with number "7" on the big one. Now, without moving the circles check the numbers. If, let's say your flower packs are 4,6,7 (from top to bottom, reading clockwise) then see which number on the big circle is aligned with 4, then with 6 and finally with 7 on the small one (you should get 6, 8, 9 in this example). Now move the big circle so that 6 is aligned with the arrow, click on the big red blob, move the circle again to align the arrow with 8, click the red thing and finally align the arrow with 9 and click again. If it doesn't work, repeat for the next clue.

why make it so complicated?

example: 3 white, 6 yellow and 8 red flowers.

clues are: 7=9  4=5    9=8

for the first clue, you only have to add 2 to the flowers, so 3 becomes 5, 6 becomes 8 and 8 becomes 10 (only use last digit) so solution is 580

2nd  clue you only add 1, so solution is 479

3rd clue you deduct 1, so solution is 257

You know... what you propose involves adding and subtracting. That is mathematics. ;)

OK... I've read every post here. After two solid days trying to figure it out I'm still stumped. I blame it on my advanced age, :D Can anyone figure out my codes? I have 6 white clumps of flowers, 4 yellow clumps, 8 red. Clues= 9=1, 2=9, 3=9. Can anyone PLEASE put me out of my misery? Solution?

I have to say I would agree with dbarns' solution. One of those combinations should work. If you're certain that you have got the number of plants correct, the clues are copied correctly, you're sure you know how to enter the numbers, and none of those worked, I would report it as a bug... one of them should have been correct and I'm not aware of the flower puzzle ever NOT conforming to the rules!

Of course you can always find the solution by just working your way all the way through the possibilities, starting with the number of plants you have then just adding 1 to each number every time until you find the right one so you could try:

648, 759, 860, 971, 082, 193, 204, 315, 426, 537

One of these *has* to be the solution if you have counted the flower clumps correctly. If none of these works, we have to assume that either there's something wrong (your puzzle is bugged) or you're not entering the numbers into the puzzle in the correct way.

Let us know how you get on!

Maybe try taking a screenshot of your flowers, i am almost certain you did not count them correctly if none of the combinations worked for you. You count each flower, white, yellow and red.

Just ignore the clues, they just make things unnecessary hard. I just try every code possible. It's a bit more clicking, but a lot less complicated.

So with 7 white, 2 yellow, 1 red, try 721, 832, 943, 054, 165, 276, 387, 498, 509, 610.
