Minimizing Angst from Being Attacked

What do you mean? They could build towns as they want?  Nothing would change except for making Collectivists un-attackable. We would still have to build just like the fighters. Same quests etc

Collect players have an advantage of not needing as many military, and defensive buildings. Those buildings slow your growth. Without the need for any defenses, collects would be able to dominate the map. You can see how this would imbalance the game.

He means that if collectives are immune from attack they can border build all over the place and steal globals from other players and there would be no way to stop them or prevent that kind of aggressive culture war. That would not go over well with other players, collective and despot alike.

Just because a person picks collectivism does not make them a peaceful player.

Ok, allbody! How would it work if total culture of hero would affect defense multiplier?

Higher total culture of all towns is, lower defense of all towns would be.

It might not work, depends how its done. :)

So my suggestion is to have a new continent which is solely inhabited by the restart heroes .... but there would have to be a entry qualification of hero being level 10 plus or Medieval plus to have this advanced re-start.

The number of players in this game is not as big to split it in parts via separate continents. There is no fun in playing alone or with very few people.

I completely disagree--playing alone sounds ideal!

I would love an all-collectivism continent or a private island where I could happily play by myself and complete the various mini-games and other quests.

I spent money on this game in Alpha 5 and 6, but skipped 7 and have not yet rejoined 8 because I just don't need the drama of being attacked.  Being attacked is not fun for me.  Neither is attacking other people or competing with them for resources and territory.  I'm not going to spend any more money on this game just to be attacked.  I would spend money--even PAY EXTRA--to be left alone.

Having an all Collectivism continent would not stop that. Period, i am just so curious why everyone thinks if you put all collects on one server would fix the competition and bully tactics on players? You can war with weapons or culture. Even if you split all of the players up, you would still have aggressive players! Those players will just turn you into a single cell using advanced science and cultural buildings, they would not need to build army units or defensive buildings, so no culture lose at all... And then you would still come here and complain, but this time its because some bully will not let you get horses....... And then request an entirely new server and way of playing in a never ending cycle. This is an online multiplayer game, you are going to have both peaceful and aggressive players in this game. Sorry, you can not avoid it.

This is a multiplayer online game and the multiplayer part is the problem. It seems every game has to be multiplayer. Developers don't listen to players who don't like that.

I have no idea how games are made but if the game has to generate the environment and quests/stories for each player then I don't understand why it can't generate that on, for example, a solitary island without contact with other players.

Because by its very nature it's multiplayer.  Solo games of Totem Tribe are called Totem Tribe and Totem Tribe Gold.  This is the next step in the story progression and the developers wanted something with more challenge and more interest.  If multiplayer games do not appeal to every player that is the nature of the business.  Can't appeal to everyone.  :-)

What you are asking, basically, is why does this multiplayer game have to have multiple players?   Wouldn't be a multiplayer game if it didn't.  :-)  You can play alone but there will always be other people near you and if they want your territory they will try to grab it using whatever tools they have at their disposal.  :-)

I would love to see a continent with only collect players (as an experiment only), because I would want to know how long it will take for some or a lot of them to turn despot, and they will turn despot!

I am sure a lot of us despots, started as collect and thought they would never play despot, but collect gets very boring very soon.

As I said I know it is a multiplayer game, but as I also said the developers are not listening to players who don't like that. Every game nowadays is multiplayer. Over the years I've played hundreds of games and I still don't like the multiplayer aspect of them and I still don't like attacking other players, I'm never going to turn despot. I've quit playing every online strategy game because of player attacks, I've quit playing games like Elder Scrolls Online because the expansions made it impossible to progress without playing in a group.

To tell people like me to just play old, obsolete games is very insulting. Instead of new content, new ways of playing, new types of games and better graphics I should just stick to Totem tribe gold. Thank you for that.

All said, never heard, probably because money are still louder than hollow words. Probably because it’s only competitive players who will donate endlessly, and single player games are much cheaper, and, even, much more easily pirated. I was among those who pirated TT1 back then, so now when i don’t like TT2 being a game not suitable for me, i have to remember there’s a share of my responsibility in that (and while i still find game piracy rather excusable in certain cases, like when a publisher, for no good reason, doesn’t offer the language localization i need for my region at all, still once the piracy paths have been learned and embraced, they are sometimes followed inertially without necessity — now it’s impossible to recall which was the case with TT1.) Now everyone knows who’s to blame lol.

Not just possible, but actually very easy, using simple forum search:

Yeah but what i meant was, if back then it was only distributed by Alawar (Племя тотема?) for my region then i probably couldn’t legally purchase its English language version anyway. Playing in English is only a habit but it dates back to ZX Spectrum times and i stand by it, everything else just ruins the atmosphere for me.
