i started playing scorched island and realized i needed to play the island where i get the frost technology. =( Is there anyway to go to that island and play it and then go back to scorched island? if i hit "quit" and then "play" it just takes me back to scorched island.
i should know better - this is not my first time playing this game. ugh. :(

You should be able to go to that island anytime you want as long as you have the secret map.

You don't have to purchase anything else for this game. You find the maps to the islands by solving puzzles on the other islands. There are, I think, four islands you need to solve additional puzzles on islands to get maps to. Just pick up maps you find to gain access.
