~POTENTIAL SPOILER~
(not fully sure if it counts but if you don't like spoilers at all, leave now. just in case)
Now, I cant be the only player with an issue of the current reset mechanic. All our hard work and sacrifices of time (and potentially money) to just disappear after a victory is completed and 150 days is over. I can understand how a reset is required to allow to pursue different victory conditions, or to play a completely different way than before, but we can have a better system than this to make you feel like you earned a fresh start, without feeling loss from losing everything.
I'd like to put forward an idea, one focused on the 150 day reset or fulfilling a victory condition. If you were to keep the reset feature, provide the reincarnated hero with a choice of a permanent buff. These would stack according to each reincarnation and would perhaps only affect players who achieved a victory condition or else have completed something in their past life. To keep the game balanced, they should keep the buff low. This would instil a sense of progress and achievement that will carry over from hero to hero, adding +1% of a bonus each reincarnation. These should only be awarded after the character is deleted, so as to make progression continue to stay at a slow steady pace, but this would make the resetting player progress just a little farther in the game before everything is taken away from them.
Obvious choices would be
+1% Building Construction speed
+1% Training speed
+1% Research Speed (or even 0.5%)
+1% Army Movement Speed
+1% Specific Troop attack/defence/health
+1% Hero attack/defence/health
This new perk bonus could tie in with the story, allowing a potential new past memory quest-line, which might allow you to see all your past heroes and draw power from them, being how the perks get passed over.
I understand how balancing might be an issue, a 5th era hero who has a +5% attack going after a 1st era hero with no extra buffs, but id like to mention that if these buffs are awarded once every 150 days, after an entire full reset, then this will barely be a problem. Perhaps the random placement of your first city should only be placed next to someone of the same era as you. This also means there will be a max cap of said bonus, such as 10% at most.
I want to feel like I'm truly progressing, and this feature may fix that feeling of despair when I see the child of my daily life for 150 days get deleted. They may live on somehow. I know we get some items from our previous hero and a few select premium items for the next hero, but this does not feel like they're enough of a gift for losing everything you spent months on.
PLEASE think about this.
Adding on to the prestige feature: perhaps we can get a border around our city crest that is a different colour or has a shiny number based on how many resets has happened. I want to feel like its not all for nothing.
