Where is the 8th pine cone? I have searched on all the isles and no joy. I presume that I won't be able to go on until I open the chest with the pine cones?

Search this forum for "pinecones" There is another thread where we detailed this. I can't remember right now what I did, so a search would be your best bet.

You don't need that last pinecone to save your game and proceed to the next level.
Hint (highlight): The pinecone you're looking for is probably found on the last section of the map (the part you can get to once you've claimed the idol).

use the thawing potion to revive the frozen tree to harvest 5 winter fruits to claim the icon which will give you a meteor shower at the frozen ice block. It will lead you to the prison. You will get the 8th pinecone somewhere there.
