Each key goes in a specific place. Read the obelisks that tells you the 2 names of the animal the click on the temples,it will tell you which animal the temple belongs too.Hope this helps ;)

I got the first 4 keys in the right place, but the holes they are supposed to go into, for the rest of them, they are closed. What am I doing wrong?

I have started and started this island and cannot work out the order in which the keys have to be placed. The only ones which do what they are supposed to and connect are Thoth and Seth. Please someone, do you know the order?

Clicking on the temple reveals to you to which god it is dedicated.
Reading the obelisks gives you knowledge of which animal represents each god, e.g. Horus - falcon, Bastet - cat, etc.

I know that bit, but have had to start the Island all over again so many times as at first I didn't know what was required and now am totally fed up with having to go through this whole performance and not getting any closer to the right order. I wonder if how many have got it as no-one has said any more about it apart from one person.

Oh, I got where you have stuck. Each time when you insert staff ( key ), several stars appear in the space between hole and the temple itself. This stars should be arranged with the help of the bird statuettes, only then next lightning strikes the temple and the next hole opens.

Thank you for trying to help, but it is not getting me any further.
Yes, 2 of them connect with the light, I can get 5 into holes with stars showing, but that is IT! Obviously it is not in the right sequence and as I said, I now am fed up and not even trying anymore. Am quite tired of having to get the army to defeat the bonebox and having the scouts to go round AGAIN, to click on all the totem poles or whatever they are called, to eventually collect all the keys AGAIN! I don't know how many times now. I did the potion on Jukuns island, but that one made sense, this doesn't.

7 8
5 6
4 3
2 1

when you put in the key there are lights above the bird statues. make the lights go from smallest to the largest ( the largest being at the top of the temple) and then a symbol will appear on the temple and then you can go and use the next key

After i insert Seth's staff nothing happens. It's driving me nuts, nuts, nuts, i don't know what to do. And after i insert Horus the same thing, there is no lightning.Must be something that i do wrong. Beside this problem the game is a massive hit. I love it.

Geez, why don't you put your dummy back in your mouth and actually read what people are telling you. They have given you the full solution, and it's been posted here a number of times in other threads.
But here, let me spell it right out for you again:
1. Read each of the obelisks. These will tell you the name of a god, and what they are (e.g Bastet? is a cat).
2. Once you've read all of the obelisks, and you have defeated the bone chest, you will obtain all of the keys with pictures of each god next to each of the obelisks.
3. Click on each temple, and it will tell you which god that temple belongs to. Put the key for each god in the hole beside each temple.
4. Once the key is put in the right hole, you will know it is the right hole because lightening will strike the temple and a symbol will be enscribed on the temple roof. You know it's the wrong key when you lose any keys that you've picked up already and they get scattered.
5. For the front few holes, the lightening will automatically strike the temple and the next hole will be opened without you having to do anything. But for the temples further back, you have to click on the bird statues beside each temple so that the stars are arranged properly beside it.
The proper arrangement is the highest star is closest to the temple, and the lowest star is furthest away. You will know you have the right order when the lightening strikes and a new symbol is enscribed on the roof of the temple and the next hole openes up.

What helped me the second time around was when I attacked the bone chest and all the "keys" appeared, I took the key from where the bone chest was and left all of the other keys under their description. I then clicked on the temple where the first key needed to be inserted and I went to retrieve that key under the description.
I found that collecting all keys at once made it more challenging because I didn't remember what key went with what temple. Sometimes the ram and bull looked similar and then I placed the wrong one for that temple and had to figure out where my keys went.

At the time I was looking for this, there was no thread on the subject.
And I do love people who are encouragers.......
Thanks Guro and Leeana, (although Leeana, I do wish you had refrained from your first comment). Being 73 thoughts are a bit slower. I will get there eventually and will be so delighted then.

I'm having the same problem. I put Anubis first (blue symbol + lightning + light on top), Thoth next (yellow symbol + lightning + light on top), Horus next (no symbol, no lightning, but a light on top?), Seth next (same as Anubis), than I put Apis in (same as Horus, only a light on top). Than none of the other holes open. I've tried different patterns but still the same ones get lightning and the others don't!
