Upgrades in new town

I just settled my second town and was surprised that I have to all of the upgrades once again. I thought I read earlier that you will need to do all these long upgrades in your town just once. And when you do so, the other time when you need to build something  you start from your already upgraded levels.

Will it always be this way in the game?

http://www.enkord.com/forum/blog.php?b=285 Is it just about research? What about upgrades? It's exhausting to do all of these hours of upgrades again and again.

Yes it is about research. Upgrades in TT1 is research in TT2.

Your Shrine of Knowledge/Library uses a percentage of your resource production for research. So make sure you upgrade all your gardens etc. to the max - after all 25% of nothing is no more than 5% of nothing.

Also select your Economy of Science and Fisher perks when you upgrade your hero. That will vastly increase your science speed, too.

Finally, fight as many monsters as you can, and try to complete the Anomalies. You can find lots of science in monster drops (more when your Fisher perk is high), and there's vast amounts of science points to be found in the Anomalies.

If you follow these steps, most of your research shouldn't take longer than a day or two, and believe me, that can sometimes be faster than you want it, to keep up with building and upgrading all the new things you research!

ETA: Zweistein will keep telling you your research is too slow regardless of what you do. So just ignore him :)
